The MagicBand Hack Disney Adults Swear By

Disney’s MagicBands aren’t necessary for your vacation, but we’ll be the first ones to admit that they do make things a LOT easier.

Breedlove and his MagicBand!

Right now, Disney has really been focusing on selling MagicBand+ in the parks, but if you’ve got an older MagicBand, it’ll still work in the parks (minus some of the cooler new features that are MagicBand+ specific). If you’re heading to the parks soon and aren’t totally sure if grabbing a MagicBand or MagicBand+ is for you, OR you’ve been using them for a while but don’t really see the appeal, these are the hacks we SWEAR by every time we visit!

Never Worry About It Falling Off Your Wrist

One of the biggest fears we hear people talk about with MagicBands is that they’ll fall off while you’re on your trip. We totally get this, because in all honesty, it HAS happened to us! Sometimes you have it secured well on your wrist, but you accidentally bump something in the park, and it comes loose. I’ve done this before myself, and had it not been for another guest pointing it out to me, I never would have noticed! Fortunately, there’s an easy fix for this — a Multi-Color Band Keeper!

For just $6, you can grab a 12-pack of these bands that will easily keep your MagicBand locked onto your wrist and ensure it doesn’t fall off. It’s great for those with any-sized wrists. You simply put it on your band where the locking part overlaps the rest of the band. That way, even if it bumps against something, it won’t fall off! They’ve saved us many, MANY times!

Tapping In is Loads Easier

While it may not seem like a lot to have to keep track of your physical card to tap into the parks each time, or to tap into your Lightning Lanes, we’ve found from firsthand experience that when you’re already juggling other credit cards, debit cards, IDs, and more, it takes more time than you’d like to dig the card out of your pocket or bag.

Disney World Ticket Cards

While your ticket is also on your phone, I’ve experienced firsthand how difficult it can sometimes be to tap in at the turnstiles with it, especially if it’s just a one-day ticket. It’s not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but when you’ve got a whole day planned out, standing at the turnstiles for an extra five minutes isn’t ideal. With a MagicBand, as long as it’s already attached to your account, all you’ve gotta do is tap, and you’re good to go!

MagicBand+

The same goes for Lightning Lanes — pulling out your phone to tap each time, or having to pull out your card, is a bit of a hassle. Your MagicBand is already on your wrist (and even if your MagicBand+ is dead, no worries — it can still tap you into things!), and all you’ve gotta do is hold it up, then you’re good to go.

Open Your Hotel Room

One of the other features we really love about MagicBands and MagicBand+ is the way they can open up your hotel room! Yes, this is something else that you can use the My Disney Experience App on your phone for, but what if your phone is dead? Then you’ve gotta go all the way to the front desk to get a physical key.

You can use your MagicBand!

With your MagicBand, you can just tap it against the door, and you’re in. Again, even if your MagicBand+ is dead, there’s no need to stress — it can still open your door with no issues! We love anything that can make our day in Disney World easier.

A MagicBand+ Charger

You’re likely bringing a LOT of chargers to Disney World, and if you want somewhere specific to charge your MagicBand+, as well as the others in your group, we highly recommend the MultiCharger for MagicBand+.

MultiCharger for MagicBand+

It’s easy to use, has FOUR USB ports for charging your MagicBand+ (or other USB devices, you can use it for whatever you’d like!), and it helps to keep everything organized inside your hotel room (which can be invaluable when you’re traveling with lots of people).
