For those of you who enjoy traveling with Disney Cruise Line, or other cruise lines out there, you may notice that Jamaica is a popular travel stop for the itineraries that highlight the Western Caribbean.

Back around late October 2025, the U.S. Department of State issued a travel advisory for Jamaica due to the damage it sustained during Hurricane Melissa. However, if you were hoping to take a trip over, on a cruise ship or otherwise, the travel advisory has now been lowered.
According to USA Today, on January 17th, the U.S. Department of State reduced the travel warning to Jamaica to a Level 2, which encourages tourists to “exercise increased caution.” Previously, it was at a Level 3, which urged guests to “Reconsider Travel.”

Due to this, many cruise lines, Disney Cruise Line included, did not travel to Jamaica for a few months. Now, though, now that the danger has decreased, we’ve noticed that Disney Cruise Line Western Caribbean cruises have now returned to their regularly scheduled programming.

We took a look at a PlanDisney panel, and it looks like these stops in Jamaica started back in late December, before the travel risk was brought back down to a Level 2. If you’re traveling on a cruise soon and are concerned, we suggest just staying very close to the area your cruise line has you in, as those areas, stores, shops, etc., are often vetted by the cruise line and known to be safer. As always, it’s important to keep your guard up and be aware of your surroundings, but that goes for anywhere, whether you’re on a trip or not.
