Packing a good pair of shoes for your trip to Disney World is imperative.

Regardless of if you prefer tennis shoes or sandals, you need to make sure that you are comfortable walking 10+ miles per day in them. Don’t make these four mistakes when planning your shoe situation; they SCREAM “I’m new here.”
Breaking in Shoes AT Disney World
We guarantee that you will be walking A LOT at Disney World. So if this is your first trip, PLEASE do not plan to break in your brand new shoes when you get there.

Yes, they will get broken in, but you’ll likely pay for it with blisters and very sore feet. That would be really terrible to deal with right away at the beginning of your vacation. Instead, we suggest breaking them in BEFORE you leave for Orlando, that way they’ll be nice and comfy and any blisters will hopefully be healed.
Prioritizing Style Over Comfort
Cute outfits are a fun part of a Disney World vacation. DisneyBounding or just getting dolled up in your cutest Disney swag is great! But we caution prioritizing style over comfort when it comes to your shoes. Opt for a pair of shoes that are comfortable, even if they don’t necessarily match.

Hoka Clifton 10s come in a variety of colors, including some more neutral ones. If you grab these you’ll be comfortable and not throw off your entire look, too terribly.
Not Bringing an Extra Pair or Shoe Covers
(For When Yours Inevitably Get Wet)
Hopefully you know this, but it rains a lot in Florida, especially during the summer and early fall months. It’s like clockwork. Plus, there are some pretty fun water rides — Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom. It’s very likely that your feet will get wet at some point.

An extra pair of shoes could be a good idea so you don’t have to put wet soggy ones on the next day. It would give your first pair a chance to fully dry out before wearing them again. Another great idea is to grab a pair of these shoe covers!

These just slip over your shoes and zip up, keeping them nice and dry. Then you can go frolicking through some puddles (yes, we did that) or ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure over and over again without worrying about wet shoes and socks!
Not Bringing Sandals for the Pool or Water Parks
If you plan on hitting the deck at your resort pool or one (or both) of the water parks, it’s a good idea to pack a pair of sandals or water shoes. This might be pretty obvious, but if you’ve never been to Disney World, you don’t know what you don’t know, right?

A pair of Teva sandals is a great option. They are comfortable and minimalistic, making them easy to get on and off when headed to the water.
