Between the high temperatures and humidity, summers in Orlando can get pretty steamy.  And this weekend could see record-breaking heat in the areas near Disney World.

The heat in Disney World during the summer is no joke. And today is expected to be especially hot in the Orlando area. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory today (July 26th) for portions of east-central Florida, which could see high temperatures in the low to mid 90s, with peak heat index values of up to 108-110 degrees.

The alert is in effect for Disney World’s counties of Orange and Osceola, as well as the surrounding counties of Lake, Volusia, Seminole, and Brevard. It’s active from 11 AM through 7 PM this evening, when peak temperatures and heat indexes are expected.

If you are headed out to the Disney World parks today, take extra care to stay hydrated and plan for lots of breaks in the air conditioning. One way I help make sure I stay hydrated in the summer is to bring a large water bottle and top it off at the water bottle refill stations around the park whenever I’m nearby, even if it isn’t quite empty yet.

It’s important to hydrate regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Plus, seek out shade and air conditioning as often as possible,  and don’t push yourself to do too much as the heat can quickly become dangerous.

Plan as much time inside as possible today!
