DATE ANNOUNCED for Permanent Closure of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal

A Universal Orlando attraction will be closing sooner than expected! We were already expecting the closure of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit as Universal announced it would be closing sometime in early September 2025 back in December 2024.

We also spotted a permit to demolish the roller coaster in December 2024, and another permit that was filed in March 2025. However, we now know the OFFICIAL date that this roller coaster will be closing.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will be closing on August 18th, 2025, which is a bit earlier than the previously announced September 2025. So, if you were hoping to get one last ride in before this coaster closes for good, you may need to adjust when you are heading to Universal Orlando.

So far, we don’t know much about what will be replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. We know it will be closing to “make way for a new experience,” and the permit filed in March 2025 proposed a new two-story building. Some fans are hoping for a Ghostbusters-themed attraction, but only time will tell what will be going in its place!
