We know how overwhelming it can feel to plan a Disney World vacation. You have to figure out how to get to Disney World, where to stay, what rides you want to go on, and, of course, where you want to eat.

We are here to help you every step of the way as you plan your vacation! We are in the parks every single day to provide you with the best tips and tricks and help make your Disney World vacation feel a bit less overwhelming.
We recently discovered a Disney World restaurant rule that we didn’t know existed! While the rule might not affect your vacation too much, we wanted to share it just in case.

There is a Disney World rule that states, “Guests are not permitted to book dining reservations within 2 hours of another reservation.” We didn’t know this existed, but it does make sense to us! Most dining reservations are made for table service locations that not only serve you a lot of food but also usually take a bit of time.

If you had dining reservations within 2 hours of each other, you would likely feel pretty rushed by the time constraints. Also, it can take quite a bit of time to travel between locations, so the chances that you would miss the second dining reservation are probably pretty high.

Of course, we were curious how this rule plays out when you are actually making dining reservations on the My Disney Experience app. We found that the rule is only somewhat enforced. We weren’t allowed to make a reservation within one hour of another reservation.

However, if you change the reservations to one hour and five minutes apart, you can make the reservation on the app. For the most part, we don’t see a scenario when you would want to book two dining reservations so close together, but it is good to know they can’t be closer than one hour apart. When you account for time to enjoy your meal and then travel between two locations, you are likely looking at a minimum of one hour.

This might be helpful when making your dining reservations in advance, but we don’t recommend planning many dining reservations close to each other, as it will be more stressful than anything.

Advance dining reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. If you are staying at a Disney World hotel, you can book 60 days out from your check-in day for the length of your stay (up to 10 days). If you aren’t staying at a Disney World hotel, you can book 60 days in advance, but only one day at a time, not your whole stay at once.
