Magic Kingdom is my second favorite park, very closely trailing behind Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

This is probably the park I find myself in the most, though, because it’s typically where I start my trip. This means that I’ve also run into the most PROBLEMS in Magic Kingdom and had to solve them ASAP. To avoid some of the near-disasters that you may not expect to have, here are six items I personally recommend bringing on your Magic Kingdom day!
I’m very used to giving you all more information about me than you probably want, so I’m gonna go ahead and do it again — when I tell you that having an Anti-Chafe Stick in Disney World in April saved not only me, but my GROUP, I mean it.

April, for example, is an interesting month in Disney World because you’re not at the heat of summer just yet, BUT you are definitely starting to feel the heat. Interestingly enough, this means that there wasn’t ENOUGH sweat on my body to avoid chafing, whereas, in the summer, my entire body is just covered in a layer of sweat, so I don’t personally run into the issue. I’m so thankful I had this with me on my trip because it helped both me and the group avoid discomfort! (I still have it with me on every trip, just in case!)
We’ve talked before about the importance of having a change of clothes in case you get soaked by rain (or your child has an accident), but I can see where you don’t want to take up space in your bag for all that. I do recommend though at LEAST having an extra pair of socks!

On more than one occasion, I’ve had soaking wet socks in Disney World that have been uncomfortable and caused blisters. Not to mention that when you hop on a bus or get inside an air-conditioned room, your feet are suddenly freezing. Having an extra pair of socks can at least make you a little more comfortable.
This next one is going to sound obvious, but it’s the specific context I’m talking about — we all know that wearing sunscreen is extremely important BUT I am 100% guilty of putting it on once in the morning and then thinking that that’s enough. NO. IT’S NOT.

Bring it with you INTO Magic Kingdom so you can reapply during the day. Some of you may be saying “duh, JP, I always do that” but if you’re like me and you (fortunately) don’t burn easily, it may slip your mind that reapplying is important. Just bring that small container with you in your bag and put some more on when you’re waiting in line! It’s worth the alternative of getting a sunburn.
Now, this next item I totally swear by. I’ve mentioned it in a few posts before, but I’m autistic, and one of the things I struggle with most is noise. It’s been that way since I was a kid, and I don’t think it’s getting better anytime soon, so you can imagine that Disney World would be a little hard sometimes, right? Indeed it is, which is why I finally invested in a pair of Loop Earplugs!

These are fantastic if you’re not a fan of carrying around bulkier headphones or you prefer something a little more discreet. These fit right in your ears and do a great job at drowning out the background sounds around you and keeping those loud sounds from attacking you and making you cringe (at least, that’s what happens to me). They’re not going to be for everyone, but if you’re someone who struggles with noise like I do, or you just want to protect your ears from the louder shows and attractions, give these a try!
If you often get bored while waiting in lines, sitting down waiting for your food, or waiting for the bus to show up, but you don’t want to be on your phone 24/7, getting a deck of Playing Cards is a great way to keep yourself and your party entertained!

The only thing I knew how to play with a deck of cards was Go Fish for the longest time, but this past New Year’s I was taught how to play a game similar to President, and it was loads of fun. It’s easy to pack, too!
Lastly, if you and your family are staying at a Disney World hotel and you got Refillable Resort Mugs with your Disney Dining Plan (or you just decided to buy them) and you’re having trouble keeping track of whose is whose in the park, grab yourself a pack of these Drink Markers!

These are an easy but fun way to keep track of which drink belongs to each person, and they can be reused over and over again — even at home!
