World of Color — ONE is about to make you EVEN MORE emotional.

World of Color at Disney’s California Adventure has been a favorite of Disneyland Resort guests for over a decade. The current iteration of the show, World of Color – One, “celebrates the rich storytelling legacy begun by Walt Disney a century ago, bringing to spectacular life moments from favorite films including The Lion King, Moana, Ratatouille, Soul, Star Wars, The Avengers and more” according to Disney. Now, the show is set to celebrate Disney and Pixar’s latest upcoming animated film.
In the spring of 2024, Disney announced a new pre-show segment for the show entitled The Emotional Rollercoaster would debut on May 31st. The sequence focuses on Inside Out 2, the highly anticipated upcoming sequel to the 2015 blockbuster.

According to Disney, “The Emotional Rollercoaster pre-show will feature beloved characters from the original Inside Out movie and will introduce the new characters from Inside Out 2. When the lights dim around Paradise Bay, memories inside Riley’s head experiencing Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust are shown on mist screens. Animated projections, majestic fountains synchronized to music, dazzling lasers and sparkling lighting are brought together to introduce the new emotions—Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui—and show how they must learn to live peacefully with the existing core emotions.”

As with the overall World of Color show, the best vantage point to watch The Emotional Rollercoaster pre-show is one of the reserved viewing areas. These areas are accessible to those who have either a valid virtual queue selection for World of Color – ONE (one per Guest), or a valid voucher from a World of Color – ONE dining package or World of Color – ONE Dessert Party (one per Guest).

Inside Out 2 is scheduled to debut in theaters on June 14th, and “returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.”
The film features Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black returning as Joy, Sadness, and Anger, while Tony Hale and Liza Lapira replace Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling as Fear and Disgust respectively. New additions to the cast include Maya Hawke as Anxiety, Ayo Edebiri as Envy, Adele Exarchopoulos as Ennui, and Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment.

World of Color is getting a lot more emotional with this Inside Out 2-themed pre-show as part of the marketing for the upcoming Pixar sequel. Stay tuned to AllEars for further Disneyland news.
