Universal Orlando Just Dropped a BIG App Update! Here’s What’s New

The Universal Orlando Resort App just got a big update!

The Universal Orlando App just debuted a new look!

We are checking out the new features that were just introduced. Universal Orlando said this is one of their most significant updates to the app, so let’s see what is new!

The Universal Orlando Resort App is one of our must-haves when spending a day at Universal Orlando! It is jam-packed with lots of valuable information and ways to enhance your experience at Universal.

So, What’s New in the Universal Orlando Resort App?

This recent update focuses on four main areas:

  • New Visual Design
  • Redesigned Map
  • Reimagined Wallet
  • Enhanced Accessibility
What’s New for the Universal Orlando App

We are taking a look at each of these updates to make sure you will be prepared for your trip!

New Visual Design

Starting off with the visual design, we noticed the design looks more streamlined with more white space. We do think it makes it easier to find what you are looking for!

New look for the main page

All your navigation will be done along the bottom bar. You can access the “Home”, “Map”, “Buy” and “Profile” tabs from here.

Restaurant Information page

Moving on to a restaurant information page. While it is still reminiscent of the previous app design, the information pages also look sleeker with more white space.

New look for ride information pages

Similarly with the attraction information pages, you can still access all the same information, there was just a change to the overall look. The wait times display looks different and there is also more white space. You can still set wait time alerts and find information such as height requirements and whether single rider is available.

Redesigned Map

This was probably one of the biggest changes we noticed. The map has a brand-new look to it! When you first pull up the map, you will be able to select the specific park you are looking for.

The map looks pretty different!

Selecting the park, will zoom you in closer to that park and display colorful bubbles with points of interest. You can select the category of places you are looking for up top, and you are still able to filter and select specific categories.

New icons and colors for areas!

This update introduced new icons and a color scheme for each area of the park. For instance, in Universal Studios, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Diagon Alley is appearing as a dark gray-black color. All of the icons corresponding to that area will be the same color.

Viewing a ride on the map

Once you select a point of interest, the app will provide you a small pop-up with more details. Just like before, you can click on that pop-up to view even more information. The pop-ups design also changed, but similar information is still displayed here.

New look for list view of restaurants

Here is a look at the list view when looking at the map. Again, the design has changed here, but the interface is still very similar. Simply select the place you want more information about, and you will be taken to an in-depth information page.

Reimagined Wallet Section

The wallet section of the app has also been redesigned. You are now able to connect tickets and extras with a specific individual in your travel party. You can still store your tickets and payment information in this section of the app.

Enhanced Accessibility

The final update to the app is the ability for the app’s content to be displayed based on your device’s preferred font size.

The app will now reflect your device’s font size settings!

This means that if you increase or decrease the font size setting on your device, the app will also incorporate those settings! If you choose a bigger font size on your phone, the Universal Orlando app will also have a bigger font size.

Overall, all of the information available in the app is still there and in a very similar spot! The overall design and feel of the app changed, but we think it does help the app to be more accessible.
