Character meals are definitely one of Disney World’s most popular dining options!

There are several character meal options at the parks and resorts, from breakfasts with Mickey and friends to dinner with princesses. And each meal offers its own unique cuisine and menu. So how do you know which one to choose? We figured there are a lot of assumptions (and maybe some flat-out lies) that you might be believing about the character meals, so to help you in the planning, let’s dispel some of those untruths for ya!
Now on to those lies. (Let’s set the record straight!)
You Have to Be a Kid to Enjoy Character Meals
You might think that character meals are exclusively for the kiddos, but that’s far from the truth. Character meals are for everyone. There’s NO AGE LIMIT!

To be sure, they’re really popular with families, especially those with younger kids, but they’re also great for adults, couples, and even solo parties.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an adult and want to relive a little bit of the childhood magic or if you’re bringing your kids for the first time, these character meals have something for everyone. So, have fun and enjoy the character interactions, no matter your age!

Character Meals Are Only for Breakfast
Sure, breakfast character meals are insanely popular, but did you know that Disney offers lunch and dinner options too? (Don’t sleep on them!)

That’s right! That means you can have a character meal whenever it works best for you! So, if you’re not a morning person or just prefer a different dining schedule, there’s a character meal for you.
Character Meals Are All Buffets
I’m sure you’ve probably heard that all character meals are buffets. (We’ve got to clear this one up immediately.) But guess what? That’s not true.

Some character dining experiences do follow a buffet-style format, but others offer a la carte menu options and that means you get to choose from a menu of delicious dishes rather than making multiple trips to the buffet line. (Not that the buffet line is a bad thing!) It’s just about giving you options that fit your personal dining style and preferences!
Check out the character meals at Topolino’s Terrace and Storybook Dining at Artist Point for a more upscale menu and experience.
You Can Only See Mickey and Minnie at Character Meals
Mickey and Minnie Mouse are the GOATs, no doubt, but Disney World character meals offer a lot more than just those two icons.

Be prepared to meet a wide range of your favorites, from Disney princesses and villains to classics like Goofy and Donald Duck.

The character lineup varies at each meal, which means you can have multiple unique experiences during your trip.
You can meet characters from Winnie the Pooh at Crystal Palace, Disney Junior characters at Hollywood and Vine, and Disney Princesses at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall — and much more!
Character Meals Are All the Same
Do you think the character meals are all the same at every venue?! Think again! Each character meal at Disney World is uniquely themed.

Whether you’re dining with royalty at Cinderella’s Royal Table or stepping into the tropical paradise of ‘Ohana, every experience has its distinct ambiance, setting, and character interactions.

That means you’ve got a lot of exploring ahead!
Character Meals Are Only Inside the Parks
Did you know that you don’t have to be inside the theme parks to enjoy character meals? (You don’t!)

You can enjoy a delightful character meal over in the resorts too!! This means you can plan a character meal even if want to take a break from all the park-hopping.

Another way to look at it is whether you’re relaxing at the resort or just visiting for the day, you have the opportunity to enjoy a character meal without the need for a park ticket!

Character Meals Are Only for Disney Resort Guests
Let’s set the record straight and say that character meals are for everyone!! And we mean EVERYONE!

It’s all the same whether you’re staying on or off Disney property, an annual passholder, or even a first-time visitor. Everyone is welcome to make reservations and dive right into the world of Disney character meals.
