The fall and winter seasons can be a great time to visit Disney World thanks to all of the festive decorations that come out for both Halloween and the holidays!

And, almost as quickly as the Halloween decorations go up, they come down to make way for the holiday transformation on November 1st. But, you might be wondering what happens to all of those pumpkins after they’re hauled out of Magic Kingdom and we’ve got the answer!
While a significant amount of Disney’s food waste is simply composted and used as soil for farming and more, all those decorative fall vegetables have found a new home at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with the apes and monkeys of the park according to Dr. Mark Penning, VP of Animals, Environment & Science.
This is part of Disney World’s long-term commitment to sustainability, which includes the continued and increasing usage of sustainable energy and zero-waste products.

So, the apes and monkeys may not be getting your leftovers from lunch, but we think that they’ve definitely lucked out! And, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for more fun behind-the-scene details from Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
