NEWS: CDC Authorizes COVID-19 Vaccine for Children 5 and Up

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change and develop, AllEars will be bringing you the latest relevant news that could affect a theme park visit.

There have been quite a few developments regarding COVID-19 vaccines over the past year.

From the vaccine becoming available to all American adults, to eligibility expanding to those ages 12 to 17, and to recommending a booster shot for those that qualify, there can be a lot to keep up with. But, recently the discussion has revolved around when younger kids may be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and now there has been a big update.

According to AP News, the CDC and U.S. health officials have approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for kids aged 5 to 11.

The shot had previously been authorized by the FDA and, with the final signoff from U.S. health officials, the U.S. can now begin administering the smaller dose of the vaccine (about a “third of the amount given to teens and adults) to children.
