The Walt Disney Company announced today, September 3rd, that they will be donating a large amount to Hurricane Dorian Relief.

Led by Disney Cruise Line, the company is donating over $1 million dollars to those in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.
Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas over Labor Day weekend, as a record-breaking Category 5 Storm. While Disney Cruise Lines’s private island Castaway Cay was safe, many places experienced devastating destruction because of the hurricane.
In an official statement, Disney CEO Bob Iger states: “The Walt Disney Company stands with the people of The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian. We hope our $1 million donation will provide much-needed relief and help our neighbors, colleagues, and all those impacted by this devastating storm begin the long process of recovery as they work to put their lives and communities back together.”

Disney’s donations will go to non-profit organizations who are coordinating rebuilding efforts, as well as providing supplies, such as food, to those in need.
Hurricane Dorian did affect Walt Disney World Park hours slightly, however the path of the hurricane seems to mostly leave the parks out of harm’s way. Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line are continuing to monitor the path of the storm and will provide updates as needed regarding changes to cruise sailings, park hours, and other areas affected.
