The NEW Dress Code Disney Adults Are Following This Month

A long-awaited dining experience is returning to Walt Disney World on March 19th, and with it comes a brand new dress code!

The new Garden View Tea Room entrance

March 19th will see the debut of a new Tea Room Experience — located inside the Grand Floridian’s newly renamed Garden View Lounge — after just about 6 years.

Afternoon tea has been a part of the Grand Floridian for decades, with the space formerly offering an afternoon tea party that was mainly geared towards adult guests.

Disney also offered the “Perfectly Princess Tea Party” for younger children and their parents. While both daily events were hugely popular with guests, often selling out months in advance, the parties shut down due to the COVID pandemic, along with the rest of Walt Disney World, in March of 2020. However, when the Grand Floridian reopened that September, the tea parties were nowhere to be found… until now.

New signage

According to Disney, the new experience will be “a proper British afternoon tea experience” featuring “premium Twinings tea selections paired with delightful scones, small bites and exquisite pastries” all themed to Alice in Wonderland. One catch to this new experience? Guests looking to book it will need to pack for a very specific dress code.

According to Disney, as the experience offers “fine dining with a distinctly magical flair”, guests are “expected to dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.”

They specify that clothing should be “clean, neat and in good condition”, and that swimwear won’t be allowed. So in other words, you won’t be able to jet over directly from the Grand Floridian’s Beach Pool.

Reservations for the experience — which costs $79 per adult or $49 for a Children’s Afternoon Tea featuring “adorably delicious bites” — opened on February 19th, a month before the experience is scheduled to debut.
