REVIEW: Is This STILL The Best Breakfast in Disney World? Let’s Find Out!

If you’re skipping this Disney World breakfast, you’re doing it wrong. And we’re not talking about just any breakfast — this one’s the kind of meal that can completely change how the rest of your Disney day unfolds.

Boma

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Boma – Flavors of Africa for breakfast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort and are bringing you our FULL review!

Background

Boma — Flavors of Africa opened alongside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge in 2001, and from the start, it was designed to reflect the lodge’s celebration of African culture, community, and cuisine. The restaurant takes its name from a traditional African marketplace gathering place, which fits perfectly with its buffet-style format and communal energy.

Boma breakfast buffet

Over the years, Boma has become one of Disney World’s most beloved resort restaurants, known for blending familiar comfort foods with African-inspired flavors in a way that feels approachable, adventurous, and uniquely Disney, especially at breakfast, when it consistently ranks as a favorite of ours (and apparently many other Disney fans, too).

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

Walking into Boma for breakfast feels like hitting the reset button on your entire morning. The space is big, warm, and buzzing in the best way — full of color, texture, and that unmistakable “you’re-on-vacation” energy. From the moment you step inside, the smells of coffee, fresh bread, and spices hit you, and suddenly waking up early feels like the right call. The African-inspired decor isn’t subtle, but it doesn’t feel overdone either — it’s immersive without being overwhelming, which is exactly what you want before a long park day.

Seating

Mornings at Boma have a lively, communal vibe. Families are comparing park plans, couples are lingering over coffee, and there’s a steady hum of movement that somehow still feels relaxed. Natural light pours in through the windows, softening the space and offering glimpses of the greenery outside, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch sight of animals wandering the savanna! It’s the kind of place where you can take your time without feeling rushed — even when the restaurant is full.

We love the ceiling

Despite being a buffet, Boma tends to vibe on a lower key frequency. The layout is smart, the seating feels spread out, and there’s a nice flow to everything that keeps the energy upbeat instead of stressful. It’s busy, yes — but in a fun, exciting way that makes you feel like the day is officially underway. Boma at breakfast doesn’t just feed you; it sets the tone for the rest of your Disney day, and that’s a big part of why it’s such a favorite.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

The first thing you need to know about Boma is that you get unlimited POG (passion fruit, orange, and guava) juice with breakfast. This delicious juice is the perfect fruity, tropical-flavored beverage to have with breakfast.

We also ordered the Zebra Dome Cold Brew for $17. It’s made with Joffrey’s Coffee™ Cold Brew French Roast, South African Amarula Cream Liqueur, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Whipped Cream, and garnished with a Zebra Dome.  The zebra dome is that snack that we already know and love, but it gets a bit of a coffee taste from sitting on top of the drink. The cold brew itself is a typical cold brew without a lot of sugar, but stir it up a bit so the whipped cream can get in there and sweeten it up. It’s delicious, though, and we can recommend it.

Let’s talk about the food. We’ll start with the bacon, which is crispy, juicy, and perfectly cooked. It’s also not super fatty, which we appreciated. The eggs are also good and have some nice seasoning to them. The Mickey and Simba waffles are those classic Disney waffles you love, but the Simba ones are a lot of fun. Quick note, though: you can’t get syrup at the buffet, but it’s brought to the table. The roasted tomato halves were nice and juicy and rich with flavor.

Look at that plate!

The hard-boiled eggs weren’t just regular hard-boiled eggs. African seasonings were sprinkled on them, which made them more flavorful.

We also picked up a yogurt parfait with Greek yogurt, mixed berries, and granola. The flavors blended together nicely. And if you don’t like granola, you can get it without.

Yogurt parfaits

There’s also a mixed fruit salad that has some African spices blended in, along with some seeds. That really made it very interesting, but also tasty. There was this fruity and nutty flavor, along with some good textures, including crunch.

You can’t have breakfast without pastries, so we picked up a few, including a cinnamon roll. This is the usual cinnamon roll you can pick up at just about any Disney World buffet, but it’s tasty. There’s also a sticky bun that reminded us of if a cinnamon roll had married the ooey gooey toffee cake at Liberty Tree Tavern. It had a really nice toffee flavor, but also had this lovely praline pecan topping. Finally, we got some bread pudding with a nice vanilla sauce on top. The bread pudding is dry by itself, but the sauce gives it that moisture and extra sweetness.

You can also pick up fruits and cheese, more pastries and breads, some dishes with African-inspired flavors, carving stations, waffles, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, toast, and more.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

    • You’re staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you’re staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, you don’t have an excuse not to book a breakfast at Boma.
    • You’ve got picky eaters in your party. The breakfast buffet at Boma has a little bit of something for everyone, including picky eaters.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

    • You’re not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge or aren’t visiting Animal Kingdom. It is a bit of a trek to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge to eat at Boma, and if you aren’t staying there or headed to nearby Animal Kingdom, it may not be worth the hike.
    • You don’t want a big breakfast. This is a huge breakfast with a lot of food, and your money will be wasted if you just want something smaller and simpler.
    • You want characters. Boma is a breakfast buffet, but it’s one without characters.

Overall, Boma is pretty much a MUST if you’re staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or you want to grab a big breakfast before visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However, we often make a special trek to the restaurant for breakfast just because.
