REVIEW: “Literally Melts in Your Mouth.” We Tried the $22 Cake Slice at Disney World That’s Actually Worth the Price.

What can we say, we’re obsessed with cake, and that is not a crime! We’ve eaten quite a bit in our days, especially from the Cake Bake Shop on Disney’s BoardWalk.

CAKE TIME!

We’re trying a seasonal cake slice at Cake Bake Shop Bakery to see if it’s worth the hefty price tag.

Check out this Peppermint Candy Cane Chocolate Cake Slice for $22. This is a French Valrhona chocolate cake meets rich Callebaut Belgian chocolate ganache, cool peppermint buttercream, and crunchy peppermint chocolate pieces, all topped with peppermint swirls and tiny red and white candy canes.

Look at those layers

Y’all. Y’ALL! This slice of cake was truly worth every penny, and we hate to say it because it’s a lot of pennies, but dang, is this a good slice of cake. The peppermint isn’t too strong at all. No toothpaste in this slice! It had the traditional flavors of peppermint from the crushed up candy canes without being overwhelming, and even our reporter, who doesn’t love peppermint, devoured the slice.

Diving in

French Valrhona means it’s made with Valrhona chocolate, a type of baking chocolate, and Callebaut Belgian chocolate is a specific brand that has been making chocolate for over 100 years. We think this high-quality chocolate really helped cut down on the strong peppermint flavor. There was also a thin layer of chocolate between the layers to help with the balance.

Pick up some hot cocoa while you’re there, too

The cake literally melts in your mouth. The soft texture, paired with beautiful buttercream, chocolate, and peppermint, felt like a special occasion, and we might be coming back when we’re ready for a celebration. It’s only around for a limited time, so if this sounds as delicious to you as it was to us, make sure you head to the BoardWalk soon.

In the meantime, make sure you keep following AllEars for more food reviews for your next Disney World vacation.

  1. Recently had lunch there which ended with a to go order of a slice of cake. Best thing I’ve tasted in a very long time. I know $22 seems like a lot, but it actually ended up being at least three filling separate desserts for me. Lunch there was also wonderful. No longer a doubter!
