5 Illegal Things You're Still Doing in Disney Springs (And Everyone Hopes You'll Stop)

You might be breaking the rules in Disney World, and the people around you seriously hope you QUIT.

Disney Springs has a bit of a different vibe than the theme parks since it’s free to get in, and sometimes that means there’s more rabblerousing than in other parts of Disney World. We’ve seen quite a few people break Disney World property rules in the shopping and dining complex over the years, and we’re here to make a PSA — it’s time to stop!

Smoking

First of all, it’s important to note that drugs are not allowed on Disney World property anywhere. On top of that, smoking and vaping are only allowed in designated smoking areas around the property. This means that you’re not allowed to simply walk around Disney Springs smoking a cigarette or puffing on a vape.

This is a rule we see get broken far too often, and it’s frequently a disturbance to other guests. Especially when there are children around (there are lots of them in Disney World!), this can be a hazard. Just do everyone a solid and wait until you get to the smoking area.

Unsupervised Children

Of course, you probably want your children to have lots of fun during your Disney trip, but that fun must be supervised. Children are not allowed to be left unsupervised anywhere on Disney World property, and there are specific rules about ages for children to do rides alone in the parks.

It DOES NOT matter if there are Cast Members nearby; you can’t leave your kids unattended. Unfortunately, Disney World is not immune to dangerous events for children, and Disney Springs is even more open and unrestricted than other areas. Keep your kids safe by staying nearby!

Breaking Stroller Regulations

There are specific types of strollers that are barred from Disney World, so you can’t just bring any size or shape when you’re visiting property. Here’s what the website says is prohibited:

Strollers that are greater than 31″ (79 cm) in width and 52″ (132 cm) in length. Stroller wagons are also prohibited.
Wagons are prohibited at any theme park or water park. Wagons are prohibited at indoor venues at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

These rules are set in place to make it easier for people with strollers to navigate common areas and to make it smoother for those without strollers. If you bring a stroller that fits these specifications, then you might not be allowed to bring it inside.

Selfie Sticks

One of Disney’s banned items that might seem silly is selfie sticks, but once again, it’s a safety reason. When they were first hitting shelves in the U.S., people were trying to use them in unsafe ways in Disney World, like on rides, public transportation, or in crowds.

Disney World property was designed with the reach of a regular-sized human in mind and adding feet to your reach and size by using a selfie stick can be dangerous in many situations, especially if there is an emergency. Plus, people often don’t pay attention to how they’re using them and can injure other guests. Just leave those selfie sticks at home, guys!

Obstructing Walkways

Perhaps the most commonly broken rule in Disney World is that guests are prohibited from “Obstructing sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls, or landings.” We see this ALL the time!

So if you’re standing with your entire group in front of a doorway, blocking an emergency exit, or generally just stopping in the middle of the walkway, you’re literally BREAKING a rule in Disney Springs. Whenever you’re there, make sure you’re aware of your surroundings, and just pull your family over to the side if you need to stop!
