We Bet You Didn’t Know This Top Secret Souvenir Hack in Magic Kingdom

As a Disney World reporter, I come across a lot of incredible Disney merchandise that makes me stop dead in my tracks. Whether I’m scrolling through TikTok and see it or someone sends me a picture of what they see in the parks, sometimes I see a piece I just need.

Unfortunately, sometimes after seeing the incredible new souvenir, it’s a few weeks before I can make it to the store. Even though I go to Disney World often, it always feels like items are sold out, even if they were recently released. I’m probably going to regret this, but I’m going to teach you where to find the best sold-out souvenirs.

Let me introduce you to my little friend: Star Traders! This is the generic gift shop in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, right by Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. You might have passed right through it on the way to get food or quickly wandered into it while waiting for someone to use the bathroom next door.

This is my secret spot where I have had the best luck finding items that I’ve been told are sold out everywhere. My first stop is usually the Emporium, but once the Cast Members start shaking their heads no, I know where I’m heading next.

I’ve found that collections stay there longer versus the bigger shops, where they’re cycled out quickly to get the next one in. Monthly collections last longer, as well as some of the more niche ones, and I’ve been so lucky to find so many items.

Last year, after staking out spots for the fireworks, Magic Kingdom all of a sudden got cold. Like colder than it should ever be in Florida. Our group split off, one to stay in the spot, the other to buy jackets (come on, we’re in Florida, of course I didn’t bring a jacket!), and their first stop was the Emporium. Not only was it packed, but the sizes of sweatshirts were selling out fast, and there wasn’t anything that fit us and was something we would actually want to wear. If you’re going to spend $60 on a jacket, you want to make sure you like it!

Jackets!

I recommended my friend’s head to Star Traders, where not only was it not too busy, but it also had jackets in our sizes that we loved. I was wearing my Monsters University jacket, which I’d been wanting for months, and my friends found something they loved, too.

If you can’t head to Magic Kingdom to grab something, I also recommend checking our resort gift shops. One of my favorites is Bayview Gifts at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, where I’ve also found items that I was told were sold out.

Some Cast Members are also able to look up products to see if they’re in stock anywhere across Disney property, including the sizes available. The problem, though? The items are mostly by barcode number, not by how you would describe them. Sometimes the description is enough like “Kermit water bottle,” but something like “Alice in Wonderland shorts?” Nope, never came up. And yes, those were real examples of items I’ve been trying to find.

Try to grab the barcode, but if you can’t, be ready to go through a lot os search words for the items, even if you have a photo of what you want on your phone.

Now that I’m sharing these tips, will my favorite items sell out a little faster? Probably. But that’s okay because here at AllEars, we always share the knowledge so you can have the best Disney day too and secure souvenirs you’ve been seeing online.
