The Rules About Bags in Disney World

When you’re packing for a day at a Walt Disney World park, there are a lot of things to remember. Snacks, medicine, a phone charger, rain gear… and oh yeah, the bag to carry it all in!

In all seriousness, choosing the right bag for your Disney World vacation can be tricky. There are size and convenience considerations to consider, plus it needs to fit into all of Disney’s rules. Luckily for you, we have a lot of experience in this area.

This may not seem like that big of a deal, but in Disney World, having too large of a bag can sometimes mean it’s not even allowed in the park, or it’ll make it really difficult to ride certain attractions.

While Disney World isn’t like Universal in the sense that you need to put your bags in lockers for the majority of attractions, TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom DOES require lockers, and they’re not very big. Meaning, if you’ve got a large backpack that doesn’t smush…good luck. Plus, Disney World’s official rules state that your bag cannot be over 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high.

So a smaller bag is certainly the way to go, but you don’t want a bag that’s SO small it can’t fit the essentials you need (which are typically a phone charger, phone, water bottle, an anti-chafe stick, sunscreen, any medication you need, etc.).
