FULL TOUR: Stateroom on the National Geographic Orion Cruise Ship

Did you know that taking a cruise is possible without thousands of other random strangers on board with you? We know, it sounds impossible, but it IS a thing!

We’ve sailed on multiple cruises with Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and many others, but we recently got a chance to sail on the National Geographic Orion cruise ship, which is different in many ways, but one of the biggest is that there are only 53 staterooms! What does one of these staterooms really look like, though? We’ve got a full tour for you right here!

The National Geographic Orion allows guests to explore lesser-known waters and isles in the Pacific Islands, Antarctica, and the Mediterranean to experience and appreciate each area’s natural and cultural wonders up close. The ship’s current cheapest trip is an 8-day trip exploring the Ancient Mediterranean for $7,720, and the most expensive is 15 days exploring Cabo Verde, the Canary Islands, and the Azores for $19,735.

We got to stay in one of the ship’s Category 2 cabins, which is on the Main Deck with a large oval window. When we first walked in, we already loved the size of the stateroom. We didn’t feel cramped or low on space, especially because the beds have room for your luggage underneath them.

A look at the stateroom!

The two large closets have ample space for both hanging items, as well as lots of shelves to stack clothing items that don’t need hangers. Inside the closets, you’ll also find additional blankets, an ice bucket and two cups, your life jackets, an umbrella, and a safe.

Tons of space here!

Over at the desk area, there are some USB ports, some US outlets, and a universal outlet to use to charge your devices. Elsewhere throughout the room, we found more charging ports near one of the beds (but only one!), and the alarm clock had 2 euro ports on it where we used small adaptors to recharge our portable chargers.

Check out the chargers!

Also, around the desk area was the TV, the Laundry bag, should you choose to use it, some special goodies, the phone, and don’t forget to look for the trash can underneath the desk.

You’ll also find a mini fridge in the cabinets…

…as well as a hair dryer in one of the drawers.

Time to move on to the bathroom, which we thought was great overall, but if you’re used to the toilet being in a different room than the shower, like it is on a lot of cruise lines, that’s not the case here!

The bathroom

The bathroom was plenty spacious, though with lots of storage space, and we didn’t find ourselves lacking when it came to towels, tissues, toilet paper, etc. By the sink, you’ll find bamboo lemongrass hand wash and lavender lime lotion by Lather, as well as bars of soap, and in the shower, you’ll see Mint Thyme Shampoo and Yuzu Bergamot Conditioner, as well as bamboo lemongrass body wash. All the products felt very high-end, as if they were from a spa!

These staterooms only hold two people, whether you have the double Twin bed configuration or the King bed. Our twin beds and their pillows were incredibly comfy, and we had no complaints. Overall, we’d absolutely book a stay in this room again!

A great stateroom!
