Disney character dining at Disney World is a top-tier experience on every Disney trip — there’s nothing that anyone can tell us otherwise.

One of our favorite character dining experiences at Disney World is at the Wilderness Lodge, but we found that they are having some scheduling issues right now that you should know about. Especially if you’re going to be at the Disney World Resort next month.
If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!
When going on the Disney World website or the My Disney Experience App, we saw that Story Book Dining at Artist Point, located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, isn’t showing any reservations past October 5th.

The chance of this being because of booked-up reservations is very unlikely, especially with all the dates beforehand having availability. We’re thinking this is likely a website glitch, but it could be a sign that a closure is coming — though we don’t think that’s the case.

We went to check out the reservations, and we weren’t able to book past October 5th. We tried to confirm with a Cast Member, but they mentioned that the dates might have filled up (not likely), and that we should keep checking back or try same-day reservations.

Since there’s nothing official, we can’t rule out that this could also be a glitch in the reservation system, because restaurant hours are still posted for dates past October 5th. In the past, we found that times are usually adjusted to reflect any changes coming, whether it’s a temporary or permanent closure.

If you’re visiting Disney World next month and you were hoping to visit the restaurant, our best advice to you right now would be to keep coming back to check reservations. There’s a chance that more could pop up at any time. You can also wait till your trip begins and try same-day reservations. That being said, just be prepared in case the dining spot does end up going through a temporary closure. If a closure is coming, we’re expecting to hear about it within a couple of weeks.

As of September 11th, it looks like this dining reservation problem has been fixed! You’re able to now book reservations through November 10th, with plenty of reservations available. If you were planning on booking one of the reservations for your trip, don’t forget to grab it because they start to fill up!
