These Disney World Wait Times Are the Reason I Have Trust Issues

I go to Disney World almost every single day!

From riding every ride in one day to trying the newest restaurants, the entire AllEars team is always up to date on the best Disney tips and tricks! It also means I have gotten a pretty good gauge on little things in Disney World, like if wait times are accurate or not. As hard as they might try, some of these long lines are unpredictable, and now I have trust issues.

Disney World is known for many things. Magical moments, iconic snacks, and amazing entertainment are a few that come to mind. A few more things that come to mind are being expensive, massive crowds during the summer, and many long lines.

After going to Disney World consistently for almost 5 years, I have developed a superpower that is completely useless outside of these theme parks but is still important nonetheless. I can look at a line in Disney World and tell you if the wait time is accurate or not! It’s something I’ve gotten pretty good at over the last few years, but it was a hard-won power. I developed trust issues because of how many lines in Disney were more of a “hit or miss” when it came to how accurate the predicted times were. 

I’ve been able to gauge which of these lines left me with the most trauma, starting with Tron in Magic Kingdom. Tron Lightcycle Run sees consistently high wait times in the park, with peaks of 85 minutes just last month. While some wait times might turn out to be shorter than their predicted time, Tron has a habit of taking longer than anticipated.

Tron has been open for over 2 years, and it is still incredibly popular, especially in the early mornings. I have rope dropped this, tried it mid-day, and even hopped on at the end of the night, trying to find the best time of day to trick those wait times. So far, it is still unpredictable if it will be longer, accurate, or shorter, and I have a little trauma because I just don’t know who to trust anymore. 

In a similar fashion, Frozen Ever After in EPCOT has caused me nightmares. Frozen Ever After has stolen the hearts of many. It’s a boat ride that takes place after the events of the first Frozen film and has continued to be a topic of conversation thanks to its facial projection animatronics.

This ride’s lines are something of an issue in Disney. A nice majority of the queue is indoors, making it cool for half the line. Sadly, the first half of the line is outdoors, and I have found myself burnt and sweating many times in the Norway pavilion. This line has caused trust issues, though, because a lot of the time, it is inaccurate in both good and bad ways. 

There are times I’ve waited in this line, and it has moved so quickly, I didn’t even realize that I was in the boat until I saw Olaf and Sven. Other times, I’ve felt like maybe I died while in line and my own personal version of the afterlife is just being sunburnt in the queue. So, can you trust Anna and Elsa? I wish I could say yes, but no. The only thing you can trust in this Disney World pavilion is the school bread and a Viking coffee.

Finally, the most unpredictable line in all of Disney World is any character line in the parks. It’s true, the worst line is many, many lines in all four parks. Disney character lines like those at Princess Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom can cause the biggest issues you’ll face during your entire trip.

I’ve seen hours-long waits for princesses, and I’ve seen 10-minute waits for princesses. You might get in line for a wait time that says 15 minutes and end up waiting 45 minutes. This can happen for a few reasons. First, the characters are people too! Interactions with guests can be unpredictable. Some people might want to talk to Tiana for hours. Other people might just want a picture and nothing else.

It can be tough to gauge because people are tough to gauge! If you really, really, really want to meet that character, consider rope dropping their location and checking their meet and greet times in the app. If you’re only there because someone else told you to meet that character, set a time limit in your mind, and if it’s taking too long, hop out of line and move on.

When it comes to all of these trauma-causing lines, you can avoid being stuck in them! You can consider paying to skip the line with Disney’s Lightning Lane services, you can rope drop these lines, or you can even hop in the queue 1 minute before the line closes for the day.
