The Newest Disney Cruise Ship Has Taken A BIG Step Towards Setting Sail

Great news for Disney Cruise Line fans!

If you’ve been following along with the Disney Destiny as closely as we have, then you’re likely just as excited to finally take a trip on it when it’s complete. We’re thrilled to let you know that the ship has taken another big step towards opening — the character on the stern has officially been installed!

The Disney Destiny will set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November 2025 and features a theme never before seen on a Disney Cruise ship: heroes and villains. You’ll see characters from The Lion King, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and Hercules, among many others.

Marvel heroes and villains will also be all over the ship, including on the stern! Disney just shared that Spider-Man, who is featured on the back of the boat (the stern), has officially been installed. This is the first-ever Marvel stern character in Disney Cruise Line history, so this is a pretty big honor for Spider-Man!

The figure depicts Spider-Man and three of his Spider-Bots swooping into action as Imagineers add the finishing touches to the ship’s geometric filigree. Our favorite parts are that the sharp edges and crisscrossing designs in the filigree are a nod to Spider-Man’s webs, and that the Spider-Bots feature cruise-themed items, such as a snorkel, goggles, a floatie, and more!

This monumental addition is often the first glimpse you may have of a new ship when it arrives at port, and we think it will be a truly magical way to start your vacation!

When we got a sneak peek of the ship, we quickly picked out our favorite details that we’re going to be obsessed with when it opens. I mean, there’s a Cruella de Vil Piano Lounge! What else do we really need?

Well, the Doctor Strange lounge is pretty cool, too.

Okay, we’re also pretty obsessed with the Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King and every other restaurant coming soon.
