REVIEW: Come Try Meteor Astropub at Epic Universe With Us

Epic Universe is here!

Epic Universe

While the new park features a bevy of new and exciting attractions spread across four new, highly themed portals: Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe (themed to the Universal Monsters), Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, all of which surround the central Celestial Park area. However, our focus today is more culinary in nature.

As one would expect, Epic Universe has a litany of eateries spread across the park, and our focus today is Meteor Astropub located in Celestial Park.

Background

Universal describes the location as a “vibrant gastropub” where “a celestial twist awaits beer enthusiasts, cocktail lovers and burger connoisseurs.” We recently paid a visit to the pub during an Epic Universe.

Atmosphere

Atmospherically, we really liked the inside of the restaurant.

There’s a lot of seating, the subtle space-travel decoration and theming aesthetic worked in an understated way, and it wasn’t too loud inside.

Food & Drink

First up, we tried the Astro Pub Burger, which costs $16.99.

Astro Pub Burger

We found this burger to be… fine. It was cooked well, and the pepper aioli sauce that came on top of it had some kick. Overall, we didn’t find anything very special about it.

It was… fine.

The burger game with a side of fries that were closer to steak fries than traditional theme park French fries. Again, perfectly fine but nothing to write home about.

We also tried the Chicken and Waffles, which also goes for $16.99.

Chicken and Waffles

We were really looking forward to this dish… and we were sadly let down. The chicken, which appeared to be entirely white meat, was pretty dry, while the waffle felt like it had been sitting for a while and went soft.

We were let down.

The meal did come with the same steak fries as the burger, and we did enjoy the glaze sauce that was over the chicken. However, neither of those could salvage the dish overall.

Finally, we tried the $7 First Light Mocktail.

Mocktail? Could have fooled us.

So this drink was supposed to be a mixture of blue raspberry, Sprite, and Pop Rocks, along with a cloud foam at the time. However, in practice, we found the drink’s flavor profile to be too dominated by the Sprite, to the point that it tasted more like a soda than a mocktail.

The spread

Overall, we wouldn’t give the Meteor gastropub a recommendation by any means, and would say check out some of Epic Universe’s other culinary offerings. That said, if you’re looking for a quick and basic burger, it would probably be fine to fit your needs. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Epic Universe’s offerings!
