REVIEW: Confession! We Completely Underestimated This Disney World Hotel Restaurant

Well, it’s time for another restaurant review.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Now, we’ve eaten at some nice table service restaurants at Disney World hotels, but we’ve also checked out most of the quick service spots, too. Well, we’re now heading over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to visit Centertown Market, the quick service location at that hotel. So here’s our full review.

Background

Centertown Market can be found inside the Port Royale lobby area of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. It’s a quick service location that also offers Mobile Order.

Centertown Market

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

The idea is that Centertown Market is a vibrant Caribbean-style market, so you’ll find nods to that throughout the dining space.

Market-inspired vibes

You’ll also find plenty of tables and chairs for seating throughout.

Lots of seating

One part of the dining area even features a more upscale island vibe. Note the shutters on the windows.

More seating

You’ll also find some island touches in the decor on the walls.

Island-inspired decor

There’s a gorgeous mural on the wall behind the beverages station.

The order pick-up area is also Caribbean-island themed.

Where to pick up orders

Centertown Market also features an area with Grab ‘n’ Go items.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

Although you can find standard food court items here, you’ll also find some Caribbean-inspired cuisine, so there’s a little something for everyone. We started with the Cuban Fries, which are Seasoned French Fries topped with Mustard and Swiss Cheese Sauce, Ham, and Pickles for $6.49. First up, we needed more toppings on these fries.

Cuban fries

We’re not saying they weren’t tasty, but more toppings would’ve made them even better. The mustard and Swiss cheese sauce is a creamy mustard with a hint of cheesiness. Combined with the cubed ham and pickles, it’s a fun play on classic Cuban flavors. We did appreciate that the toppings were small enough that we could get them on the fork with the fries for one bite.

Classic cuban flavors, but with fries

We went full on ARGGGHHH! with our entree, the Swashbuckler Burger. It’s a Grilled Signature-blend Burger topped with Toasted Coconut-Curry Aïoli, Lime-Jalapeño Jam, Fried Tostones, and Arugula on a Toasted Brioche Bun served with French Fries for $14.69. Yes, there were a lot of flavors happening here, but they all worked well together.

Swashbuckler Burger

If you’re averse to spice, don’t worry — it isn’t really that spicy, even with the Lime-Jalapeño Jam on it. You do get light notes of curry and lime plus the coconut sneaks in there and lends some tropical flavor. The tostones make for a nice crunch. We didn’t have a lot of arugula on our burger, but it added a nice peppery flavor. Our only gripe is that the burger was well done, so a little bit dry. But we appreciate that this is a unique take on a classic burger.

A unique burger

We also tried the Mixed Grill Platter for $17.49. This platter includes Roasted Citrus-marinated Chicken, Barbecued Pork Ribs, and Grilled Andouille Sausage served with Fried Yucca, Seasonal Vegetables, Creamy Mango Coleslaw, and a Roll.

Mixed Grill Platter

First, the andouille sausage was juicy and fatty with a nice smoky and slightly spicy flavor. But there is a bit of a kick, like you’d expect from andouille.

Andouille

The ribs weren’t fall-off-the-bone tender, but they weren’t hard to eat. They had a nice char on the outside and were slathered with a classic barbecue sauce. You get three ribs, and we’ll just say this isn’t bad for a quick service restaurant.

Ribs

The chicken was kind of dry and needed some kind of dipping sauce. Although the description says it’s marinated in citrus, you only get a hint of lime flavor, and we were hoping for more. There really wasn’t a lot of flavor to it.

Chicken

The roll did not do ANYTHING for this platter. It was kind of hard and tasted stale. We wished this had been fresher.

Roll

The Yucca Fries are a lot like thick potato-based fries, but the yucca is fluffier on the inside. They had a nice crunch on the outside, but the flavor is mostly yucca because they aren’t seasoned (at least from what we could tell).

Yucca fries

The grilled vegetables includes carrots, broccolini, and onions. The carrots were soft with a nice char on the outside. The broccolini was crispy — almost too much so. The onions were caramelized and had a deep onion flavor.

Grilled veggies

The coleslaw had a fresh, creamy dressing. We didn’t get a lot of mango flavor, although we did see cubes of mango in it. We mostly tasted mayo, vinegar, and the coleslaw vegetables. It’s not drenched in the dressing but has just enough to give it the right amount of flavor.

Coleslaw

For dessert, we got the Tropical Cheesecake for $6.29. It’s a Classic Cheesecake topped with Passion Fruit Coulis, Mousse, Popping Boba Pearls, and White Chocolate. The popping boba were fun and had a nice passion fruit flavor that went well with the cheesecake. The cheesecake itself is soft and creamy with a lovely fruity flavor.

Tropical Cheesecake

The cheesecake also has a nice density. You’ll find passion fruit jam in the center of it that just makes that passion fruit flavor burst in your mouth. That part of the cheesecake is tart, though, but it blends well with the cheesecake. If you like passion fruit, this will probably be a win for you.

Great passion fruit flavor

We also ordered a drink called Bubbles of the Sea (insert The Little Mermaid vibes here). It’s made with Gold Peak Sweet Green Tea, Lemon Juice, Pineapple, and Guava topped with Boba Pearls and a splash of Shimmer for $7.29. This is VERY sweet and the syrups take away from the flavor of the green tea, so you barely taste it.

Bubbles of the Sea

The main flavor is guava. The popping boba are also fun and these tasted tart, like green apple.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. This is a great option for dining if you’re staying at the resort. Plus you can just mobile order and take your food back to your room, if you want.
  • You want a quick bite to eat. Quick service means just that: it’s quick, especially if you use Mobile Order.
  • You want a little variety. Although you can get standard burgers, fries, pizza, and more here, you’ll also find some unique Caribbean-inspired dishes.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You’re not staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. We’re not sure we’d travel to get to this dining spot, unless you’re staying at a skyliner hotel and plan on visiting this hotel.
  • You want a table service meal. This is quick service, meaning you won’t get that full dining experience you’d get with a table service meal. If you want to be waited on, try Sebastian’s Bistro instead.

  1. Ate at CenterTown Market recently and I could not disagree more. It was unorganized with lots of help who did not appear to know what they were doing. Management appeared and then disappeared – never to be seen again. Ordered two of the exact same chicken salad. One was in a take out box and one in a bowl….? Food was mundane. We actually went there to try some of the choices listed on the All Ears menu but the menu was not accurate. This was a one and done.
