Disney has officially filed permits to tear down La Brea Bakery.

Disney filed the permits with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department, and they call for the bakery, along with two Disneyland ticket booths, to be demolished, with the utilities to be limited and the foundation of the building removed. This location will be the future home of Porto’s Bakery in Downtown Disney.
Porto’s Bakery and Cafe is officially coming to Downtown Disney! The permits being filed signal the work beginning on the bakery, which was originally announced in 2022.

This is the chain’s 7th location, and we knew that construction would begin on the cafe in 2025. Previously Earl of Sandwich resided in La Brea Bakery, however, it will eventually get its own 2 story location in Downtown Disney! Right now, Earl of Sandwich and Earl of Sandwich Tavern can be found near the Esplanade or at the pop-up pod near Star Wars Trading Post at the west end.

In its new location, the first floor will feature a “light and airy Earl of Sandwich” restaurant while the second floor will be “home to an all-new table service concept, The Carnaby Tavern.” It will be inspired by the British Invasion pop and rock bands from the U.K. It will even have a patio with an indoor/outdoor full-service bar.

These are some major changes coming to Downtown Disney, but they aren’t alone! The resort, which is about to celebrate its 70th anniversary, recently gave us a sneak peek at 3 other new restaurants coming to the dining and shopping district. First of all, Bopo Go! is a brand-new cafe concept being planned expressly for Downtown Disney. It’s created by Eric Wang and Philip Wang, co-owners of Bopomofo Café.

It will serve Bopomofo Café’s same authentic boba/bubble tea! Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ are also coming to Downtown Disney, and Disney gave us a look into both restaurants. Arthur & Sons will serve “premium cuts of beef, fresh seafood, sandwiches and salads, along with an impressive selection of bourbon, and cocktails.”

Pearl’s Roadside BBQ is a quick-service restaurant that will serve up pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked heritage turkey along with housemade sauces and cocktails.

The entire resort is making major changes to prepare for upcoming celebrations that begin on May 16th, 2025. Downtown Disney has also expanded over the last several years with new additions like Parkside Market and Din Tai Fung. We can’t wait to see what this new bakery will become once it finally opens.
