Universal’s Epic Universe has left such an impression on us already; what more could we ask for?!

Now that we’ve had a few chances to step inside Epic Universe and give you a complete overview of what’s inside, there’s one burning question we’ve had on our minds! With so much to see and do over Epic Universe, we can confidently say it’s basically impossible to do everything you want in one day. Ever since Universal gave us a sneak peek into all of the delicious dishes, snacks, and desserts awaiting us beyond its portals to 5 epic worlds, we’ve been licking our lips in anticipation to try them ALL!
Now, we’re finally starting to dig into a few more of the foods you’ll be able to try soon when Epic Universe is finally open on May 22nd (or in April if you scored a preview!). Let’s scope out the eats at How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk next!

This expansive world is filled with rides, shows, character meet and greets, and so much more for visiting Vikings! While it’s true the rides and attractions here will leave you in awe, we’ve also wondered if the food also lives up to the precedent the rest of the world has set.

We picked up the Goldfish Mac & Cheese Cone at Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel. This one will set you back $11.99, so for a snack, its price might sound a little steep at first glance! But it sure does look delicious, and check out that portion size! Our reporter was happy to confirm that this cone is the perfect portion for one, or you could share if you want to fit in more food later (but it’s so good, you won’t want to share 😉).

The mac and cheese was a creamy white cheddar blend, and they were pleased to find that each bite was evenly coated, but not drowning cheese sauce. It was just enough to satisfy your snack attack without leaving you with an overly heavy feeling. The fun part to this one is there are Goldfish crackers sprinkled on top AND hidden at the bottom! It added a playful crunch that balanced so well with the cheddar cheese-coated pasta. The texture game here was strong, but the cone itself was the absolute rockstar to this one! It reminded us of the best parts of an Olive Garden breadstick—soft, buttery, slightly garlicky—and then added the perfect crunch to the outside.

Full disclosure, we could have eaten the bread cone on its own and been happy. The mac and cheese and toppings are filled about 3/4 of the way down, so we had plenty of filling and bread to munch on. Be careful that it might be a little messy!
We also tried the PB&J – Pork, Bacon, & Jam Mac & Cheese Cone for $14.49.

This was one of our top favorites! It’s made with BBQ harissa pulled pork, peanut bacon jam, and parsley, served in a crunchy cone with plenty of creamy mac and cheese.

It’s a sweeter barbeque on beautiful pulled pork that pairs really nicely with the mac and cheese. It’s the same mac and cheese in all three cones, but with different toppings to take it to the next level.

The third cone was the Dragon Fire Chicken Spire Mac and Cheese Cone, priced at $14.49.

This creamy mac and cheese has Nashville-style pulled chicken, hot honey, Calabrian peppers, chimichurri, and crispy onions served in a crunchy cone.

It has a bit of sweetness, but that spicy kick right on the back! The heat doesn’t linger, but is there when you first bite into it.

This one definitely earned a spot on our “must-eat” list for Epic Universe!
