A SUPER Popular HBO Show Just Announced Its Season 2 Release Date!

New series are coming out, Disney+ rules are changing, series being canceled, and that’s just the start of it. However, if you’re a fan of the popular HBO show The Last of Us we’ve got great news — the season two release date was just announced!

On April 13th, 2025, The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on HBO’s streaming service, Max, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This means the season finale will likely air in late May, which will make it eligible for Emmy consideration.

The premiere of Season 2 comes a whopping two years and one month after the finale of Season one. However, Season 2 takes place five years after the events of Season 1, with the official logline reading, “Five years after the events of the first season, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”

Also returning for Season 2 are Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley. New to this season are Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez and Jeffrey Wright. Additionally, Catherine O’Hara guest stars this season.

Season 1 of “The Last of Us” drew a massive audience, around 30 million cross-platform viewers per episode, and ended up winning eight Emmy awards. While Season 2 is coming many years later, it’s also expected to draw in a similar number of viewers.
