Former Disney World Cast Members Are Sharing the Magic Kingdom Restaurants Where They Never Eat and Why

We wish every Disney World restaurant offered an awesome dining experience, but, alas, there are plenty you’ll want to skip.

Magic Kingdom

We go to Disney World every day AND several members of the AllEars team are former Cast Members — so when we say we know a thing or two about Disney World, it’s fair to believe us.  We revisit restaurants frequently to back up our opinions, try new offerings, and really do our homework. Over the years, we’ve learned that not all Disney World restaurants are equal thanks to budget, menu offerings, entertainment, etc. Our former Cast Members have a lot to say about Magic Kingdom restaurants, including which ones to avoid.

Magic Kingdom is PACKED with tasty goodies and solid eats, but the former Cast Members on our team suggest skipping these two restaurants.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

Both Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella’s Royal Table are Magic Kingdom restaurants that offer unique character dining opportunities in Beast’s Castle and Cinderella Castle, respectively.

Each restaurant sports a prix fixe menu, meaning you’ll pay a set price per person and then choose from select offerings for each course.

Dinner and lunch at Be Our Guest start at $72 per adult plus tax and gratuity and $43 per child ages 3-9 plus tax and gratuity. Meanwhile, Cinderella’s Royal Table serves breakfast for $74 per adult plus tax and gratuity and $45 per child ages 3-9 plus tax and gratuity. Its lunch and dinner costs are $88 per adult plus tax and gratuity and $52 per child ages 3-9 plus tax and gratuity.

Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages cost extra.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

So why exactly do members of our team avoid these two? For starters, Character Dining is expensive and not great for introverts. You’re paying good money for something that could potentially be awkward and uncomfortable. Not ideal.

If you’re looking for something high in quality, low in intensity, and overall calm for half the price, check out Liberty Tree Tavern, which offers all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style Thanksgiving-esque meals.

Another great Magic Kingdom pick for an even cheaper cost is Columbia Harbour House, which offers New England-inspired dishes, including seafood.

Another reason to avoid Be Our Guest and Cinderella’s Royal Table is that they have set prix fixe menus. It doesn’t matter your appetite, you’re paying a set amount and you’re gonna have to be OK with that.

We’ve also found both restaurants to be overpriced with average food. Ultimately, you’re paying for the atmosphere and not the eats.

Belle and Beast

If you’re looking for a quality sit-down restaurant in Magic Kingdom that doesn’t break the bank, check out Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen! Skipper Canteen is super underrated and offers flavorful cuisine of Asia, South America, and Africa with a Jungle Cruise flair. This restaurant is also a rare Magic Kingdom spot that serves alcohol.
