It wouldn’t be the holidays without food! Whether you have long-standing traditions for what you eat on holidays or you make it up as you go, there is nothing quite like sharing a feast with your family and friends.

Well, we are headed over to The Diamond Horseshoe for a holiday feast in the heart of Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom. Sometimes, the only thing better than having a holiday feast is not having to do all the dishes afterward!
Background
The Diamond Horseshoe is an Old West-themed “saloon” that serves an all-you-care-to-enjoy holiday-inspired dinner. True to its name, The Diamond Horseshoe is shaped like a horseshoe. You will also be able to enjoy the tunes from a self-playing piano throughout your meal.

The Diamond Horseshoe has a lot of similarities to another Magic Kingdom restaurant. While the atmospheres in The Diamond Horseshoe and Liberty Tree Tavern differ, you will enjoy the same all-you-care-to-enjoy feast at both restaurants. While some of the menu names may be different, you will be served the same food whether you choose to dine at Liberty Tree Tavern or The Diamond Horseshoe.

Liberty Tree Tavern is themed to a colonial-style inn with the rooms decorated to reflect famous men and women from the U.S. Revolutions. Liberty Tree Tavern also offers a more intimate setting. On the other hand, The Diamond Horseshoe is themed to an Old West music hall. It is more difficult to get reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern, though, so if you are looking for a holiday meal, The Diamond Horseshoe could be the perfect spot for you!

Atmosphere
Once you step inside The Diamond Horseshoe, you will be transported back to an Old West music hall. The interior is full of detail, including wooden floors, wood tables, and balconies around the dining room. At the front and center, you will find a gorgeous stage.

On the stage, you will find the world-famous self-playing piano. It is direct from a tour of the world’s most famous fairs and expositions.

During the holidays, you will even find lots of Christmas decor in the restaurant. There are Christmas trees and garlands hanging all over the place. These decorations really make the restaurant feel cozy!
Food & Drinks
The Diamond Horseshoe offers an all-you-care-to-enjoy feast. You can choose from the Frontier Feast or the Plant-based Cowpoke Platter. No matter which feast you choose, it will cost $44 per adult and $24 per child. The Diamond Horseshoe offers lunch and dinner, and the price is the same for either meal.

The all-you-care-to-enjoy feast includes a non-alcoholic beverage, a starter, an entree, and a dessert. You can also purchase peel-and-eat shrimp for an additional $25. The Tavern Punch and alcoholic beverages are an additional charge.

We decided to try both feast options, the Saloon Feast and the Plant-based Cowpoke Platter. To start our meal off, we grabbed the Tavern Punch which costs $9.75. It is frozen DOLE Whip lemon and Sprite.

We were super impressed by this drink. Our server told us the drink is made by putting the DOLE Whip into a slushy machine. The drink was fluffy and cloud-like, and it sat on top of some Sprite. If you love DOLE Whip or trying DOLE Whip served uniquely, you need to try this drink!

After we got to try some of the drink, we were served our starters.

The Saloon Feast comes with the Diamond Horseshoe Salad, which is mixed greens, apples, cranberries, and cheese tossed with a house-made dressing. The house-made dressing is a sweet vinaigrette, and we really enjoyed this salad. It tasted fresh, and the flavors would be pleasing to most people. The combination of creamy cheese, sweet cranberries, crunchy apples, crisp greens, and mild vinaigrette work well together.

We also got some rolls that were topped with a garlic butter topping. The rolls were slightly sweet, and they were soft and fluffy. They were well baked, and the garlic butter was delicious on top.

The Plant-based Cowpoke Platter comes with the Cowpoke Salad which is tossed mixed greens with house-made dressing. This salad is almost identical to the salad served with the Saloon Feast, except there is no cheese. Just like the Diamond Horseshoe Salad, this salad was beautifully balanced and tasted very fresh.

The plant-based option also comes with some rolls. These are also very similar to the normal rolls, except plant-based butter is on top. These are some of our favorite plant-based rolls, and the balance of the salty garlic flavor with a touch of sweetness from the bread is wonderful.

After we got some carbs and veggies in our bellies, we moved on to the main course.

The Saloon Feast comes with roasted turkey, pot roast, oven-roasted pork, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herbed stuffing, and house-made macaroni and cheese.

Our favorite of the three meats was the pot roast. It was very tender and flavorful without being overly salty. The sauce tasted tomato-based, and all the flavors worked well. The turkey was kind of moist, but we wish it were more moist. We liked the herb butter that was on top of the turkey. Our least favorite was the oven-roasted pork. It was dry, needed more salt, and we weren’t huge fans of the mushroom gravy.

The green beans were very garlicky, and we loved how they were cooked. They had a slight snap to them without being too crisp. The mashed potatoes were creamy, buttery, and delicious. The stuffing has all the classic flavors — celery, onions, sage, and thyme. The flavors are similar to those of the classic Stove Top stuffing. The cranberry sauce is a cross between cranberry sauce and apple butter. We confirmed that it also contains apples, and we thought it was tart and yummy.
Finally, the Saloon Feast also comes with some macaroni & cheese. We wish the macaroni & cheese had a bit more creaminess to it. We also could have ended up with the end of a pan or something, as it was not super saucy. It is your classic mac & cheese and will likely be a crowd-pleaser.

The Plant-based option comes with Impossible Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, mushrooms gravy, and seasonal vegetables. The meatloaf was a stand-out for us. It had a perfect combo of salty, tangy, and vinegary flavors. It had such a great flavor and we had to get seconds of it!

The mashed potatoes were rich and flavorful. They somehow tasted very buttery even though they were plant-based. The potatoes could be a bit salty for some, though. We weren’t a huge fan of the green beans on the plant-based plate. They had some garlic seasoning, but we wish there was more seasoning as they lacked flavor overall.

Finally, we moved on to dessert. With the Saloon Feast, you get Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for dessert. It is a vanilla toffee cake, chocolate sauce, and vanilla ice cream. This dessert was rich, sweet, and delicious. It is a fairly heavy dessert, but combining the toffee bits with the caramel and creamy ice cream makes it taste wonderful. There is a reason this dessert is a favorite!

For dessert with the Plant-Based Cowpoke Platter, we got Johnny Appleseed’s Warm Apple Cake, which is topped with caramel and whipped topping.

We were disappointed in this dessert. While the cake itself is yummy, we ended up scraping off the coconut cream and avoiding the caramel as much as possible. The caramel sauce was not good at all. It tasted really, really bitter, and we tried our best to eat the cake without getting any caramel on it.

We definitely felt like we needed to be wheeled out of Magic Kingdom after eating all that food! We left feeling satisfied, and while not everything was amazing, we still had a great experience. The stand-outs for us were the rolls, pot roast, Impossible meatloaf, Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, and Tavern Punch.
Magic or Tragic?
Was The Diamond Horseshoe magic or tragic? Well, we think this restaurant could be magic if you want:
- An all-you-can-eat holiday dinner. We love that this meal is all-you-care-to-enjoy, plus it includes some of our holiday favorites.
- Great options for picky eaters. If you have picky eaters, The Diamond Horseshoe could be a great option. Nothing is too crazy or unique, and many dishes are comfort foods.
- A sit-down restaurant that doesn’t always require a reservation. One thing we love about The Diamond Horseshoe is that you don’t always need a reservation. While it is recommended, we have found that you can often walk up and get seated. You may have to wait a bit during really busy times, but it can be a great option if you don’t make a reservation in advance.
But The Diamond Horseshoe may be tragic if you are looking for:
- Character dining. While there is a self-playing piano, you won’t be able to meet any characters at The Diamond Horseshoe. You might want to try The Crystal Palace or Cinderella’s Royal Table for character dining.
- A menu with lots of variety and unique options. The Diamond Horseshoe offers a holiday feast, and that is about it. While the food is tasty, if someone in your group doesn’t want a holiday feast, you may want to choose a different restaurant.
- A quick meal that won’t break the budget. The meal will take some time, and it is not a super budget-friendly option. If you want a cheaper and quicker meal, you might want to check out Columbia Harbour House, Pinocchio Village Haus, or Peco Bill’s Tall Tale Inn.
