CLOSURE ALERT: A Disney World Hotel Pool Refurbishment Begins TODAY

It’s that time of year when Disney closes certain attractions for refurbishment.

Port Orleans French Quarter

In the winter months, we’ll often see Disney closing attractions that are better suited for the hot summer months. For example, Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be closing on January 6th, and Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed as it usually is this time of year. Other things we will often see close in the winter are hotel pools, and if you’re staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort soon, you need to know about this closure!

From December 16th through December 21st, the Doubloon Lagoon Pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort– French Quarter will be closed for refurbishment! That means, as of today, it is officially CLOSED. Luckily, this is a short, one-week refurbishment.

While this closure is going on, you can head over to the Ol’ Man Island Pool at Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, or you can swim into one of the leisure pools at either resort, Riverside or French Quarter.

Since the weather is cooler in December and January, Disney uses this as an opportunity to close attractions that not as many people are likely to enjoy while it’s cold. This is frequently pools and water rides. Sometimes, these closures can last for a month or longer, but luckily, this one should be over quickly.

We’ll be watching to see if this pool reopens on December 21st or if it gets delayed, so keep following AllEars for updates! And be sure to check out our weekly refurbishment posts to stay caught up on what closures will affect your upcoming trip.
