Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke Turns 99 TODAY, and This Tribute Has Us in TEARS

As kids, so many of our Disney memories come from people and performers who made that Disney magic come to life.

Not all of us got to go to Disney World or Disneyland often growing up, but many of us remember watching countless Disney movies, playing with toys from those films to feed our imaginations, and everything in between. One of the most iconic Disney actors EVER turns 99 years old (!!!) today, and we’re already crying.

Dick Van Dyke has a massive history with The Walt Disney Company. Most notably, he portrayed Bert in Mary Poppins back in 1964 (he also portrayed Mr. Dawes Sr. in the film and reprised that role in Mary Poppins Returns), but he can also be seen as Robinson Crusoe in Lt. Robin Crusoe USN, Jack Albany in Never a Dull Moment, as the host of Donald Duck’s 50th Birthday and Golden Anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, among others!

In 1986, Van Dyke inducted Walt Disney into the American Television Hall of Fame and was inducted as a Disney Legend himself in 1998. The Disney icon turns 99 years old TODAY, December 13th, and is being celebrated in a very special way. Coldplay, the British rock band formed in the late 1990s, decided to create a music video with Dick Van Dyke to their song “All My Love” to celebrate him and his legacy!

In the video, Van Dyke shows photos from his life, including a photo of his family in their first house in California, and is then surrounded by his kids and grandkids at his current California home as Coldplay’s singer, Chris Martin, sings and plays piano in the background.

In the interview section of the video, Van Dyke shares, “I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now but I don’t know why, it doesn’t concern me. I’m not afraid of it. I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual that I have, that I’m gonna be alright.” Check out the whole video below, and get ready to wipe away some tears!
