The Disney Treasure — the latest ship in the Disney Cruise Line’s seemingly ever-expanding fleet — is almost ready for its maiden voyage! Before then, Disney gave us a SNEAK PEEK at the new ship during a media event in New York City! During our time onboard, we got to check the ship’s many new offerings, including the new AquaMouse, the Haunted Mansion Parlor lounge, and the new Coco-themed restaurant.
Plaza de Coco will be one of the ship’s rotational dining experiences. According to Disney, the restaurant will be set in the “picturesque town of Santa Cecilia from the Pixar Animation Studios film, Coco. During two distinct evenings of theatrical entertainment, everyone in the familia will discover a menu that draws inspiration from Miguel’s colorful world.”
So, what did we think of Plaza de Coco? Well, we’ll get the chance to step inside ourselves later today, but for now here are our thoughts!
Plaza de Coco
The restaurant’s interior does a perfect job in capturing the specific artistic spirit of the film, and the real elements of Mexican culture it represents.

Thematically, the restaurant features several allusions to Coco’s setting…
Themed details are everywhere
… and characters.
Coco references are everywhere
There’s even a recreation of the ofrenda from the film, an altar which pays tribute to the departed through the use of candles, pictures, and other tributes. Many notable characters from the film’s depiction of the afterlife are present.

Plaza de Coco will also be home to live entertainment, with two distinct shows so that guests won’t have the same experience twice on one sailing.
The first will feature the Rivera family characters from the film celebrating in the land of the living, while the second deals with Miguel reuniting with his great-grandparents during a Dia de los Muertos celebration.
Plaza de Coco promises to be one of the most unique experiences on the Disney Treasure. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on the Disney Cruise Line’s newest vessel!
Not a fan of the CoCo menu AT ALL.
