The more we learn about Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, the more excited we get!

Universal Epic Universe is slated to open in 2025 so Universal has spent the better part of 2024 hyping up the new theme park with land, ride, hotel, and restaurant reveals. Despite Universal being fairly transparent, we’ve still had to do a little bit of sleuthing to uncover more details. In our detective work, we found out that one major land detail was subtly confirmed!
How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk will be an Epic Universe portal (land) based on DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon franchise and is promising unique attractions, theming, and experiences — including the opportunity to see flying dragons!

Per the official website, the experience at the Isle of Berk land is currently being labeled as “Vikings in the Village and Dragons in the Sky”. The official description is as follows:
“Meet Hiccup and Toothless at the Haddock Paddock. Stroll around Berk and you may meet some of your favorite Vikings and dragons. You may even catch a glimpse of dragons flying high above the village.”

Talk of dragons flying above the Isle of Berk at Epic Universe has been prevalent in the theme park community for quite some time now and folks have even been able to spot dragon testing.

In addition to these meet-and-greet opportunities and the flying dragon spectacular, lots more is coming to this brand-new land. Universal said guests will be able to “Take to the skies and soar with dragons as you explore the colorful Viking village at the heart of Berk. Take part in wild boat battles, feast like a Viking and more.”

You’ll even be able to get the “ultimate wish fulfillment of flying with dragons.”
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders will be a family thrill coaster that takes riders on an adventure aboard Hiccup’s latest glider contraption.

The coaster reaches speeds of up to 45 mph and has some Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure vibes (which is absolutely a good thing).

Fyre Drill will be a boat-battle attraction where riders compete to “outscore and out-soak” each other in a battle. Boats feature water cannons which riders will use to put out fires in the attraction.

The last ride coming to the land is Dragon Racer’s Rally, a thrill attraction that will let guests “Practice aerobatic maneuvers and high-speed barrel rolls on two Viking-made dragon-riding trainers.”

The ride will have you reaching heights of 67 feet where you can choose how wild of an experience you have with controls that move the vehicle.

As for entertainment, joining the characters and flying dragons will be The Untrainable Dragon show, which is inspired by the popular “Untrainable” show from Universal Beijing Resort. It will feature Hiccup, Toothless, Gobber, and Astrid amid musical numbers, life-sized dragons, and more!

You’ll also find the Viking Training Camp play area for Junior Vikings in the land, where kids can learn about dragons through an interactive play camp with slides, bridges, and even a “Viking agility course”.

We can’t forget restaurants! Isle of Berk will have Mead Hall, which has been billed as the “beating heart of Berk and the village’s main gathering hall.” This restaurant will let you dine like a Viking with a menu that offers a variety of meats, fish, sandwiches, and more. You will also be able to find a collection of meads and ciders here.
