Okay, Disney World. Is This Chaotic Park Trend Officially Here to Stay?

As much as we love Disney World, there are a lot of decisions they make that we can’t help but question.

Main Street U.S.A.

This one in particular is one we hope to have answers to soon, since a big change will be taking place early next year.

Starting in 2025, Disney World is adding a fun new perk for their hotel guests: complimentary water park tickets! These tickets are only valid on the date of check-in, allowing guests to dive right into the fun the minute they enter the Disney bubble.  This perk is available for those with check-in dates from January 1st to December 31st, 2025.

Typhoon Lagoon

As exciting as that is, however,  we can’t help but wonder what that means when it comes to the current chaotic trend that Disney has created for their water parks.

Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach

Disney World has two waterparks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. In the past, both parks were open and available for guests to enjoy, but since at least 2021, both parks have begun an alternating system where one water park remains open for the season while one remains closed.

Although we’re not sure why this system was created in the first place, it can be a little frustrating when there’s a specific water park we’d like to visit instead. And with this upcoming new perk, this minor frustration might end up becoming more of a complication.

Double Dipper at Blizzard Beach

We’re sure many hotel guests are going to take advantage of this perk, as water park tickets alone can cost up to $74 per adult. So, a complimentary ticket is almost too good of a deal to pass up! Especially since you can head over to the park even before your room is ready by leaving your luggage checked in with the front desk.

However, that means there’s potential for double the crowds than usual at these water parks since more guests will be interested in going. If that proves to be true, then one water park being opened per season won’t make much sense as capacity may not allow it.

If all resort guests choose to go to a water park on the day of their check-in and there’s only ONE water park open….we can imagine that’s going to be pretty chaotic.

We’re really hoping Disney alters the way they operate their water parks once this perk comes into play in 2025, or comes up with a solution of sorts if they choose to leave it it as is.

  1. The one water park at a time is nothing more than more tightening of the purse strings. One set of staff moving between parks and half the running costs. As always profit above experience

  2. This a great promotion for WDW that most can not take advantage of. Guest first day to SO unpredictable. Weather , travel delays, other plans.
WDW can promote a perk that does not cost them anything and will not be able to use.
