Being a Disney Vacation Club Member comes with a ton of perks — and if you’re not already part of the club, we totally get why you’d want to join!

Not only can members reserve amazing rooms at Disney World, Disneyland, and many other locations around the world, but they can also get discounts on and early access to all sorts of things. But, a new law could make life more difficult for certain DVC Members…
A new law will allow Disney Vacation Club to ban guests, owners, and purchasers from its properties for misconduct.

House Bill 429 (HB 429) gives timeshare companies the same rights as hotels to ban those staying at their properties who engage in unruly conduct — more specifically — to “take any action, including arrest or removal from the timeshare property, against any purchaser, including a deeded owner, or guest or invitee of such purchaser or owner,” if they behave inappropriate conduct.

The new law went into effect on July 1st and can be read in full below:
“With regard to any timeshare project as defined in s. 509.242(1)(g), the managing entity or manager has all of the rights and remedies of an operator of any public lodging establishment or public food service establishment as set forth in ss. 509.141, 509.142, 509.143, and 509.162 and is entitled to have a law enforcement officer take any action, including arrest or removal from the timeshare property, against any purchaser, including a deeded owner, or guest or invitee of such purchaser or owner who engages in conduct described in s. 509.141, s. 509.142, s. 509.143, or s. 509.162 or conduct in violation of the timeshare instrument.”

This is not ethical, this is unethical and “not good.” A police officer cannot force someone out of a/ their home property which they own, why? Because you own it (house)- Disney has the power and authority to remove us from our owned property via police phone call per they subjective discretion and not requiring manager oversight or clearing, approval first- This means we essentially do *not own the property. DVC and Disney entities will use and abuse this power- Disney considers burping misconduct- Notice how Dis never actually describes in language nor gives example of what the vague and subjective definition/ language of what they consider ‘inappropriate’ or ‘misconduct.’ A resort supervisor threatened to quote,”throw me out” because I was understandably upset when he aggressively refused to move our villa that I was requesting due to my severe allergy to what was inside the villa. My husband had to step in front of him because he was clearly going to assault me. I had to call an ambulance to get treatment in the lobby. The last thing DVC needs is complete power over owners which they now have. That Disney lobbyists money goes far (pay off legislators to protect their own special interest).
