If you’re visiting Disney World, especially in the summer, we are always going to make recommendations for things you’ll need on your trip.

For example, we’ll always tell you to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and sunscreen to protect your skin. We’ll also recommend a raincoat or poncho because random storms are a thing in Florida. One of the things we recommend the most, though, are neck fans, but we’ve got a word of warning about the neck fans we like to recommend (and we still recommend them).
So we recently tried out two of the neck fans that we often recommend from Amazon. A neck fan is a WONDERFUL thing to have in Disney World because keeping that air circulating on your neck really does help you feel a lot cooler. We started with the ASNUG fan, which we charged for a little bit with a USB-C charging cable (which both fans come with) before we hit the parks.

Although this fan has three speeds, we kept it on top speed throughout the day because it was pretty hot out. You can change speeds by hitting the power button on the side. That top speed did a good job to blow air all around our neck and face. Although we didn’t charge the battery completely, it still lasted a little over two hours.

But we did run into a problem…it sucked our hair into it and we ended up losing a little section of hair as a result. Ouch. So note for the future: be sure to pull your hair back if you have long hair and are using this fan.
We also tried another neck fan we often recommend, the JISULIFE Neck Fan. We charged it a little before hitting the parks and managed to get more than three hours of sweet cooling from it. This particular fan is a little easier to get on and off, but its shape meant we felt more air on our neck and chin than our face.

The power button is in a weird place on this one: it’s like in the middle of the band near the back, so you’ll end up having to feel around for it to find it to change speeds and power it up and down.

However, this one ALSO sucked our hair into the fan, but at least it didn’t actually pull a chunk of hair out. We’d still suggest pulling your hair back when wearing this neck fan, too.
Ultimately, we don’t have a clear winner here, but we do think neck fans can be a very useful cooling tool to have handy when you’re in Disney World in the summer. But if you do choose to wear one, you’ll want to make sure you have your hair pulled back and out of the way of the fan’s blades.
