Theme Park Implements NEW Policy To Report Line Jumping

There are some things you should not do in a theme park.

First, you should not violate a theme park’s rules, whether that be related to conduct, what not to do on rides, or the park’s dress code. However, some rules will still be broken and are difficult to police, like line jumping. It seems like one California theme park, though, is taking steps to crack down on that kind of behavior.

According to The Orange County Register, Knott’s Berry Farm is cracking down on those who cut or jump in lines by encouraging other theme park visitors to report them so they can be dealt with or even removed from the park.

The California theme park recently posted signs warning guests about line jumping and holding spots in line. The sign also has a phone number that can be used to text message security when a line jumper is spotted.

According to the Knott’s Berry Farm website, line jumping is against the theme park’s code of conduct. Under prohibited behaviors, the website lists: “Line Breaking- includes leaving and re-entering a line for any reason or place holding in line.”

Currently, this new program is being tested on the GhostRider roller coaster after a similar text messaging system proved successful at another park owned by Cedar Fair, which also owns Knott’s Berry Farm. Knott’s Berry Farm is encouraging riders to do things like get food or use the restroom before they get in line. If someone does have to leave a line, they need to inform a Knott’s Berry Farm employee if they want to rejoin their party later on.

However, visitors have also been texting the number for other rides, too, so it seems like it already may be a success at Knott’s Berry Farm.

Once texted, security officers will be dispatched to deal with the line jumpers or those holding spots in lines and make sure the visitors are not only aware of the rules, but if they are repeat offenders, they will be asked to leave the park.

Knott’s Berry Farm also recently put a chaperone policy in place that requires anyone under the age of 16 to have an adult who is at least 21 years old with them in order to be admitted or to remain in the park after 4PM. Note that the official policy, though, says that Knott’s Berry Farm security can begin enforcing this earlier in the day, if they choose. Visitors may be asked for ID verifying age at the entrance.
