We’re so close to finally stepping foot into Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination — Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and words can’t express how excited we are to see it brought to life. We’ve already been introduced to a few things we’ll be able to do while visiting Disney’s newest destination, got a sneak peek of the merchandise that will be available while cruising here, and tasted a few of the exclusive drinks that will be offered while docked but nothing can compare to the Lighthouse Point’s natural wonders.

In their latest update, Disney Cruise Line is giving us a peek at a few of the most notable landmarks they’re highlighting while you’re visiting Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. So if you’re feeling up for a short adventure (or just want to take a look at the natural beauty there is to discover here), this update was made for you!
In just a few short days, Disney Cruise Line will open up its newest island destination to visitors who’ve come to explore, learn, and play as they immerse themselves in the Junkanoo culture and arts.

So to tide over our excitement before we actually get a chance to lay eyes on Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point for ourselves, Disney’s giving us a quick update on it! In that update, they’ve offered a tour of what you’ll be able to enjoy while at your destination. Let’s take a closer look together!
Where Lookout Cay sits is within a stretch of coastline and rock structures called Lighthouse Point. It’s a locally beloved point of Eleuthera where the clear turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean greet the Bahamian island.

This destination was specifically chosen by Disney Cruise Line to connect visitors from around the world with the vibrant culture of The Bahamas and what better way to do that than to fully immerse its visitors in one of the most revered places of this island?
While you’re there you might notice something looks a bit different about this destination’s setting than Disney Cruise Line’s other island destination, Castaway Cay. If you look down, the sand might look like it’s a faint pink color — but your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you; it really is pink!

Eleuthera’s shores and widely known to be peppered with pink color sand which happens when the crushed coral and fragments of shells mix with the island’s soft, white sand. One of the best places you’ll get to find this pink-tinted sand is right where you’ll be — Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!
Food and farming are an important aspect of the culture that make up the Junkanoo way of life of Lighthouse Point so it may surprise you to learn that one particular fruit is highly regarded.

Eleuthera is known for its long pineapple farming history since this destination is one of only a few in all of The Bahamas with distinct red soil that helps pineapple thrive and grow prosperously. Pineapple farming is so important to the people of Lighthouse Point that each year the island hosts the world-famous Pineapple Festival, which is intended as a massive celebration to bring both visitors and communities together to celebrate the harvest season. In short, we (and they) highly encourage you to try their native pineapple while in Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point becuase you just might not find any as sweet anywhere else!
If you find yourself in an exploring mood, consider booking one of Disney Lookout Cay’s local Eco Tour port adventures to Rock Sound, Eleuthera! This is where you’ll find a naturally forming blue hole that Bahamians believe connects to the ocean through 300,000-year-old caves which they’ve named Ocean Hole.

This is where many of Rock Sound’s residents learned to swim since it has a higher salt content making it more buoyant than sea water. And, the word around with the locals is that this beautiful space also could possess incredible, natural healing properties. Ironically, Ocean Hole and Lighthouse Point Beach both share limestone rock structures, proving just how connected the island’s terrain truly is.
If you find yourself still fascinated by the island’s natural beauty, just a few steps away you can also visit a natural rock structure called Cathedral Cave. This location has extremely tall, wide ceilings, where cascading tree roots fill the inside of the cave, and you’re met with filtered sunlight. This is a popular tourist attraction for visitors and Bahamians alike and is home to native Bahamian wildlife. If you’re looking to visit Cathedral Cave you can find it in several of Disney Lookout Cay’s port adventures, including the South Eleuthera Eco and Cultural Tour and the South Eleuthera Eco and Historical Tour.

Interested to learn more about the Bahamian wildlife while you’re visiting? Well, you won’t have to look too far! Disney Lookout Cay will feature an expansive nature trail where you’ll find bronze sculptures of native animals.
But if you do nothing else while visiting the island, you might want to consider this recognizable landmark– the Glass Window Bridge.

This was a once-natural bridge of land that separated the Atlantic Ocean from the waters of the Exuma Sound and the 700 islands of the archipelago of The Bahamas. Eleutheran artist Kevin Cooper is responsible for painting this famous natural wonder, and you’ll find his artwork hung in the cabanas as well as available for purchase as a lithograph to take home as a souvenir from Disney Lookout Cay.
As you can see there are so many wonderful natural beauties to be explored while cruising to Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point during your Disney Cruise Line vacation!
