Shopping is just one of the many things you’re probably looking forward to for your next Disney World trip. The shops are stacked with specialty merchandise and you can’t deny it — buying stuff AT Disney World just hits different!

On the other hand, there are some souvenirs that Disney fans consider a waste of money including things like popcorn buckets and MagicBands. However, the latter is basically a necessity at one Magic Kingdom ride!
MagicBands used to feel like a must at Disney World. They were the key to just about everything — your hotel room, FastPass reservations, scanning into the parks, and paying for food or merchandise. Now, with MagicMobile as an option, there’s really no need to use a MagicBand since your phone can do all of the same things. And let’s face it, who doesn’t bring their phone to Disney World?

Some parkgoers still find it convenient to have one, but with the introduction of MagicBand+ (and regular MagicBands disappearing from the parks), it’s only gotten more expensive.

However, if you DON’T have one, you may run into a problem over at TRON Lightcycle / Run. This is the first Disney World ride that requires lockers for your bags and loose items.

To open the lockers, you CANNOT use your phone. You must use a MagicBand or physical card like an Annual Pass. It makes sense because you’re supposed to put your phone in the locker, but it can certainly slow you down when you’re trying to ride! You can track down a Cast Member to give you a temporary card to use, but this may be difficult and take more time.

So if you want to avoid this problem, we highly recommend ordering a MagicBand+ ahead of time online. The Disney Store is constantly running sales so you can likely get a discount if you keep checking the site.

If you buy multiple, you can get free shipping when your order is $75 or more! Check out all of the designs available

TRON Lightcycle / Run has unique seating hence the required lockers. It’s almost like you’re sitting on a motorcycle and then leaning forward where the restraints lock into position. Unlike other coasters, there isn’t really a pouch to put your belongings on the ride vehicle!
