A Word of WARNING About Visiting Disney World Two Random Weekends in May and July

Summer isn’t too far away, and soon, we’ll all be facing the heat and crowds that come with the season.

But in addition to those regular summer crowds, sometimes Disney has unanticipated events that can cause crowds to increase! So, if you’re heading to the parks in May or July, you need to watch out for this event!

From May 25th-27th, 2024, the ESPN Wide World of Sports located in Walt Disney World Resort will be hosting the AAU Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Memorial Day Classic.

Then, on July 4th-11th, 2024, Disney will also be hosting the AAU Boys’ Basketball World Championships, which gives players a chance to compete in world-class facilities in front of family, friends, coaches, and teammates.

Summer crowds are already VERY high most summer days, and these events will likely make them even larger as friends and family attend these competitions. So, if you’re planning to visit the parks during these events, be prepared to face some higher crowds!

You may also see large groups of athletes and their families at places like Disney’s All-Star Resorts. This is where large competition groups typically stay during these types of events, so prepare for longer lines at the food court and bus stop!
