BREAKING: State of Emergency Declared for Southern California Including Disneyland

Southern California (where Disneyland is located) is prone to experience “atmospheric rivers,” which are extremely narrow channels of wind that transport water vapor to the West Coast. Given the right conditions, these can create huge flood risks as the water vapor creates rain storms. The second atmospheric river of the week has hit Southern California. Here’s what you need to know.

The Los Angeles Times shared that Governor Gavin Newsom has placed Southern California under a state of emergency, as the second atmospheric river in one week has caused evacuations, flooding, and road closures.

A state of emergency is in effect for the following counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura. (Disneyland is located in Orange County.)

LA Times shared, “Chilling rain, swirling gray clouds and blustery winds rolled into Southern California on Sunday as what was anticipated as the strongest storm of the season promised near-record rainfall and flash flooding through Tuesday.”
