Disney has had to fight many public battles over the past few years.

There are lawsuits between Disney and the DeSantis-appointed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board. There was a lawsuit about Park Passes. Then there’s the proxy battle with Peltz and Disney. But now we know when we’ll get an update on that thanks to the latest news from Disney.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that its annual shareholder meeting will take place on April 3rd, 2024. The Peltz proxy battle is not new for Disney, however, we should get some updates in April this year.

Blackwells Capital and Peltz’s Trian have submitted their own names to join Disney’s board. Trian is targeting Disney directors Michael B.G. Froman and Maria Elena Lagomasino by recommending Peltz and Jay Rasula (former Disney CFO).

In January, Disney revealed their official rejection of the Trian nominees for the board as well as CEO Bob Iger’s 2023 salary. Disney explicitly stated, “The Board does not endorse the nominations of Nelson Peltz and James Rasulo put forth by Trian Fund Management, L.P. and its affiliates, led by Nelson Peltz and supported by former Disney executive Isaac Perlmutter (collectively, the “Trian Group”). The Board recommends that shareholders do not vote for the Trian Group nominees, and that they reject a related proposal from the Trian Group to amend the Company Bylaws.”
Along with the rejection, Disney shared 12 nominees that they endorsed.

Shareholders will get to vote and we’ll find out in April what the future of the company will look like.
Before the shareholder meeting happens, you’ll be able to see how The Walt Disney Company is doing at the First Quarter Earnings Call on February 7th, 2024. We usually get some pretty big updates on how the company is doing and anyone can tune in online.
