NEWS: Disney Star Tim Allen Comments on the Upcoming 'Toy Story 5' Movie

Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Certain things in life are unavoidable — Disney World price increases, taxes, and another Toy Story sequel. While 2010’s Toy Story 3 seemed like a fitting end to the Toy Story franchise, Pixar surprised us by giving us another sequel and a spin-off. Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced yet another sequel is on the way, and one of the franchise’s stars recently shared an update!

The voice of Buzz Lightyear, Tim Allen, has been fairly vocal about a return for Toy Story‘s fifth film.

While making an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Allen stated that he had talks with Iger about the new film. “He actually said it was going to happen,” Allen said of Iger. “They have reached out to Tom [Hanks] and I to reprise the roles, [but] they’re not saying anything about it.” Allen’s tune is a bit more up in the air than it was back in February when he made it seem as though his return was a sure thing on Twitter/X.

Allen reiterated what many of us thought — how many Toy Story movies are too many? “What it is for people like me, it’s just like… you wonder if four was too many, is five going to be too much?” Allen said. He did, however, heap a lot of praise on the fifth movie’s screenwriter and said of the film’s story, “It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”

Having a Buzz Lightyear without Tim Allen in Lightyear was pretty interesting, so it would be interesting to see Allen return to the role he first made popular nearly 30 years ago.
