All the news surrounding the Walt Disney Company lately has been somewhat overwhelming for a lot of Disney fans.

The Company has been working hard to stabilize the flux of revenue after a period of losses, and hoped to fix thee poor financial situation within the Company by bringing back Disney CEO Bob Iger. Since Iger’s return to Disney in late 2022, the Company has unfortunately not seen a substantial increase in revenue to overturn the situation. In order to stabilize, Iger has considered selling ABC among other linear networks.
Disney has officially received it’s FIRST offer for ABC from mogul Byron Allen — $10 billion for ABC as well as local stations, FX, and National Geographic, per Bloomberg.

This bid is based on the $1.25 billion in earnings that the properties generated over the past year before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. Byron stated that he was willing to sell the TV stations that he currently owns as well as work with banks to finance the purchase of ABC.

Allen has quite the background within the television industry, working as a TV producer as well as a standup comedian. Among his accomplishments, he’s successfully acquired assets like the Weather Channel and other local stations, and has spent more than $1.3 billion in recent years to invest in the success of these assets.

Disney released a statement regarding the potential sale, stating that no decisions have yet been made. However, the Company is still considering strategic options.
