We’ve done it! We’ve made it through the bulk of the summer crowds, and now we’re heading into fall…slowly but surely.

Hurricane season is in full effect at Disney World, and many outdoor rides can’t run in bad weather. Not only that, Disney World rides can have lots of technical issues that can close them for hours at a time. Which rides closed the most in August, you may ask? Here are the numbers!
Magic Kingdom
There are a lot of high-tech new rides in Magic Kingdom, but both of the most common closures from August are older rides that probably aren’t as technologically advanced as some of the newer attractions. The ride with the MOST closures was Pirates of the Caribbean, which closed 56 times over 27 days.

The other ride that closed most often is The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, which closed 49 times over 21 days.

Both of these rides have been in the park for years — they’re pretty old. Now, that’s likely part of the reason why these rides close so often, not to mention that water rides have a whole other element that needs to be managed.
EPCOT
Test Track closed a whopping 60 times over 29 days! This ride is partially outdoors, so some of these closures are likely due to inclement weather.

Meanwhile, while Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is an indoor ride, it is one of the most technologically advanced new rides in the park since it’s trackless. It closed 32 times over 23 days.

EPCOT has a few major rides in the parks, so if one goes down, it means wait times for the others very often will skyrocket.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Slinky Dog Dash is one of the newer rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it closed 55 times in 29 days. It’s also an entirely outdoor attraction, meaning that it will also close in bad weather.

And, it’s no surprise to anyone that the other ride that closed most often was Rise of The Resistance, which closed 51 times in 24 days. Some would say this is THE most advanced ride in the entirety of Disney World, so it’s common for this one to go down often.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom had the least amount of closures this past month, with Expedition Everest in the top spot, closing 30 times over 19 days.

Dinosaur closed the second most, being down for the count 20 times over 17 days. With all the animatronics that are inside of the ride, it’s no surprise that this one goes down often.

Now that September has started, we’re heading into the fall season (although it won’t get cooler for quite some time), and we’ll be interested to see what rides have some trouble this month. Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
