If you’re in Disney World or trying to plan a Disney World trip right now, you could be impacted by some technical issues.

Technical problems have impacted the Disney World website and app in the past, and on June 13th we spotted more potential issues.
When we opened up the My Disney Experience app on the afternoon of June 13th, we were met with a message letting us know that some of Disney’s digital experiences could be unavailable at this time and that they were working to resolve the issue.

We had visited the Disney World website earlier and found that some web pages were loading as blank screens. Later, a message was posted on the website to indicate (similar to the app) that some digital experiences may be unavailable at this time.

Around 5:07PM ET, we exited and reentered the My Disney Experience app and were NOT given the same error message, but the message was still on the Disney World website. Later, that message was removed (at least from some pages).
From what we saw, many services were generally available on the website toward the afternoon, though there were a few oddities here and there (like certain information not loading).

According to AP News, there was an outage impacting Amazon’s cloud computing unit — Amazon Web Services — which affected some websites. According to AP, “The company said on its website that the root cause of the issue was tied to a function called AWS Lambda, which lets customers run code for different types of applications.”
While much of the issue might be resolved already or resolved soon, just be aware that there could be a few straggling issues as things get finalized. It’s just something to be aware of!

Digital issues like this can (and do) pop up from time to time and it’s important to be prepared. If you’ll be in the parks, consider taking a screenshot of your next Genie+ return time, dining reservation, or other critical info so that if for any reason the app experiences problems you can still have access to the info you need.
