Disney websites — they’re just like us! Ever feel a little groggy in the morning? Ever have trouble getting started bright and early? Well, you’re not alone!
If you’ve ever grumbled about waking up at 7AM to purchase Genie+ or hit “snooze” on your alarm in lieu of rope drop, you know it’s not always easy to get up early! Well, during a recent visit to the Disney World website to book a 2024 vacation, we noticed that Disney’s website was having a hard time.
On May 31st, 2024 Disney World vacation packages opened for booking. (Oh, and the pricing for the Disney Dining Plan was revealed, too) We hopped on Disney’s website bright and early (6AM EST, to be exact) and immediately found ourselves in a virtual waiting room. The process was a little chaotic, so we’re going to walk you through our experience.
Before we continue, we should point out that this isn’t the first time the Disney World website has given us problems. In the past, we’ve experienced technical difficulties when trying to purchase an Annual Pass, Halloween Party tickets, and more. Let’s just say that the latest problems on the Disney World website are not exactly a major shock.
While we were hanging out in the virtual waiting room, the estimated wait time was, well, a little confusing. For a while, the wait time just said “Recalculating,” but then around 7AM EST, the language was updated. Finally — some progress!
We were prepared to wait for a while; the approximate wait time was listed at about 30 minutes. In the end, though, those that made it through only waited about 10 minutes to enter the website.
On the other hand, others were stuck in the waiting room, never making it to the Disney World website to book a 2024 vacation.
About 30 minutes later, the waiting room page was updated. Disney shared a message reading, “We have currently paused online bookings and will resume as soon as possible.”
Additionally, our estimated wait times disappeared and instead went back to saying “Recalculating.” (Ticketmaster website survivors may know this experience all too well)
Eventually, Disney updated the website to say, “We have currently paused bookings online and over the phone.” Both the phone line ((407) 939-5277) and the website are currently paused for new 2024 vacation bookings.
That said, we recommend that you stay in that online waiting room and refrain from refreshing your page. It could impact your place in line!
Disney has not shared its reasoning for the technical difficulties this morning, but it could be due to an overwhelming amount of people on the website.
We’ll continue to watch for more updates on this situation, and we’ll be sure to let you know when bookings reopen! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

I’m finally at the 14 minute wait time! Since 8am this morning lol
I’ve been in the waiting room since 8:32am EST this morning….and it’s 11:36am now! I haven’t moved out of the “Recalculating” phase and my progress bar has been all the way to the left the whole time. Smiling through the wait! 🙂
