Disney World’s Bag Policy for 2024

A Disney World vacation is all about fun and fantasy — but there are still some practical things to consider.

While the (Disney) World is your oyster while you’re visiting, the resort still has many rules you need to be aware of and follow.

And like many stadiums and other places where lots of people gather, there are rules about the bags you can carry inside. So today, we’re looking at the bag policy for Disney World’s theme parks.

Let’s Go to Disney World!

Here are Disney World’s official rules about bags you carry into their parks:

  • All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be subject to screening/security checks.
  • Suitcases, bags, coolers or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) are not allowed in any theme park or water park. Loose or dry ice is not permitted in these containers. Re-usable ice packs are recommended.

Did you notice the rules about coolers and ice? Just in case you didn’t know, you can bring your own food into Disney World!

If you don’t want to carry your bags in the park all day, you can rent a locker at the front of each park:

  • For $10/day Small:  12″ x 10″ x 17″
  • For $12/day Large: 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″
  • For $15/day Jumbo: 17″ x 22″ x 26″

The rates for Disney World’s water parks are currently:

  • For $10/day Standard:  12.5″ x 10″ x 17″
  • For $15/day Large: 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″
Nothing like that Main Street U.S.A. feeling!

So now we’re inside, but can you carry your bag on the rides with you? The attractions at Disney World generally have space for you to bring bags with you when you ride.

You can bring your bags on almost all of the rides at Disney World — including most of the roller coasters. If you are riding one of these attractions, and you have a bag that is bigger than a fanny pack or belt bag, we recommend placing your bag at your feet as soon as you get onto the ride — to prevent it from moving around, falling, or damaging the contents.

On rides where you might be up high (like Soarin’), or bumping around a lot (think Avatar Flight of Passage), Disney has designated storage bins under or next to the seat where you can store your bags near you — with no worries about you dropping them during the ride.

There are two attractions at Disney World that provide lockers for storing your bags at the attraction — TRON Lightcycle / Run and Kali River Rapids. These lockers are free, and cast members can assist you with operating them if you need help.

So, now that you know Disney World’s Bag Policy, it’s time to choose your bag. We’ve got some suggestions!

Backpacks are a common choice for a reason! They are easy and comfortable to carry, and they can hold a lot of stuff. shopDisney always has a great selection of backpacks at many price points that will lend some Disney flair to your outfit.

Belt bags are also a favorite choice — if you don’t need to lug around water bottles and supplies for a family of four, a smaller bag will be more convenient for you. The Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag goes, well, everywhere, and we see them all over the Disney Parks.

You will also see Loungefly mini backpacks all over the parks. We think they are a perfect size for park days — you can fit just enough inside, but not so much that they will weigh you down. And who can resist the Disney designs like this one decked out in Minnie Mouse polka dots?

Sling Backpacks can also be a great choice, especially because they are quicker to take on and slide off than a backpack with two straps. Plus, they can be work cross-body if that’s more comfortable. We like the simplicity of this Vera Bradley black cotton sling bag that goes with everything!
