It has been a BIG year for Disney media!

We’ve seen countless new hit shows on Disney+, as well as several big releases at the box office, including Pixar and Marvel titles. But today, a new Disney movie has hit the theaters!
Disney’s new animated feature Strange World premieres today, Wednesday, November 23rd. The film follows a family of legendary explorers as they search for treasure, and stars talents like Jake Gyllenhaal, Gabrielle Union, and Dennis Quaid.

Right now, tickets are available online for theaters all across the U.S., so if you’re hoping to check out the film during your Thanksgiving break, add those to your shopping list.

The film had a preview day on Tuesday, and box office numbers from that date came in at a disappointing $800,000, according to Variety. Predictions before the release were that Strange World would make between $30 million to $40 million over the Thanksgiving holiday, but now it seems that those estimates may be too high.

So what’s the deal? Tuesday night previews for animated films don’t always rake in the cash, considering families often wait to go to the theater during the daytime. However, last year’s Encanto generated $1.5 million during Thanksgiving week previews and went on to make $40.3 million over the break. Compared to that, it looks like Strange World is off to a rough start.

This film doesn’t look interesting to me and there are hardly any TV previews.
